Having spent hours on the shuttle bus from Stoke centre again, are there any alternatives for me? I come from the Nottingham area, ie along the A50...is there anywhere in that direction where I can park and ride or park and walk? I am a reasonably fit Stokie for over 50 years but the traffic chaos at present for evening matches is driving me mad!!

Park up heron cross if you get there around an hour and half before the game there is plenty of free parking. Around a 10-15 minute walk nice and easy get away.

The above times are for Saturdays. Normally leave pub 1hour before kick off time. Get back approx. 30_45min after final whistle.

You can park on Willowtree grove in Heron cross for free, short walk to the locomotive then a 15 min stroll to the ground.
It's straight onto the A50 for you from there too.

Leave the house 45 mins before KO and stroll along the canal, stopping at the Oatcake barge en route. You'll be in your seat with 10 mins to spare.
Afterwards, leave your seat halfway through injury time (you'll need a watch or phone to time this), exit the stadium on the final whistle then walk past the Holiday Inn, through Heron Cross, up Duke Street and towards Fenpark then visit your mum for tea just 30 minutes after you left the ground*
*Note - this only works if you live in Etruria and your mum lives in Fenpark (and she likes having you round for tea).

Come off the A50 for The Brit. Turn left at the roundabout by The Harvester, go straight over the next roundabout and there's a factory with a massive carpark towards the end of the road on your right (Scilabware) that charges a fiver for parking and is stewarded. (is stewarded a word? )

Whereabouts on the canal is the oatcake barge? It's usually parked/moored by the approach to the bridge, just on from the incinerator. A barge that sells Oatcakes eh? This is progress.

Best bet is to arrive at Heron Cross an hour or more before the game. Go on to the second roundabout at the City Centre turnoff on the A50. Turn right at the roundabout and then left in 50 yards at Heron Cross lights. Then take a right turn by Heron Cross school after 200yds. Bowling Club top left turn, £3 to park. Cheapest ale and pies. Ten minute walk to the ground. You will have a delay (10 mins) walking back unless you leave the ground in injury time and ten minutes delay onto the A50. But you can always stop for a pint to allow the traffic to clear (perfect!
