How dare those filthy immigrants leave the UK. Who will be doing those shitty jobs now? It might mean the job centre offers me something now, and I will have to get off my fat lazy arse. Who is going to work all hours of the night to keep the 24/7 open? How am I to get my bread and crisps for late night munchies on the way home on a Saturday morning? After all we have given them they now pack up and leave. What are the tabloids to complain about now?

Not exactly stats – “research suggests”.
I don’t think the government has any accurate idea of how many immigrants cross our borders.

They come over here, take our jobs then fuck off when the going gets tough.
They've no loyalty these foreigners. Bastards, really.

They come over here, take our jobs cockle-picking, then the inconsiderate sods just go and get drowned... I truly think immigration's the best thing that's happened to this country, and this city, in my lifetime. Tin hat on...

Sal, immigration has undoubtedly been good for the UK, what does concern me though is the number of ILLEGAL immigrants entering the country and more importantly, the complete lack of control the government has over our borders. They haven’t got a clue how many are here, where they are, how many more enter each day etc etc.

I agree the government doesn't know what day it is half the time and is spinning up its own arse, but it worries me more that the local councils are no better. If we were more realistic about making things legal not pretending it's not there we'd be better about settling the good people down here. That's one of my huge beefs about S-o-T and immigration, we're the friendliest people on earth (except towards yam yams, dingles, mancs, I could go on...) and yet here we are with BNP and UKIP councillors because people have got frightened and aggressive because they're lied to so often, I hate that.

Sal, do not miscontrue my attempts at humour with the inane ramblings of a Daily Mail reader.
Immigration has been key to economic growth in this country, but when anything becomes unmanaged, it will quickly become unmanageable. This has been the case with immigration and the strain it has put on key services in areas up and down the country has been a huge tax burden to those areas in particular, thus negating the obvious economic benefit.
Had the economic migration been more effectively managed, we could have seen more tangible benefits in these areas. As it is, it's more often than not turned into a field day for the Daily Hate & Fear writers. It's a shame because so many of those who are here just want what we want; a decent life, a good education for their kids and Stoke to win on a saturday afternoon.

They had a show on at the Edinburgh Fringe festival last year called "Everyone hates the Daily Mail". I never managed to go, but if it is on again this year I will be sure to attend.

Mind you, there's nothing wrong with a wank when all is said and done.
You feel a bit lighter on your feet, and you haven't got anyone to apologise to after you've finished flirting your dirt.
It all owrks out pretty even, as far as i can tell.

Vestan - I don't wish to appear pedantic or to be accused of nit picking but shouldn't everyone be hoping for a Stoke win on other days of the week as well? You seem to have forgotten that Premiership teams regularly play on any number of week days at a variety of kick off times. I'd hate to think that you were giving incorrect information to our foreign brothers. ps 600 posts, I thank you.

Sammz, You are of course absolutely right. In the interests of clarity, i would like to inform our foreign bretheren that Stoke City FC do play football matches on other days as well. An example of this would be Wednesday, which you will find between Tuesday & Thursday, which are also examples of days upon which football matches could possibly be played. I hope that this has cleared up any confusion caused by my original statement, and that our friends from Iraq, Kosovo & Fegg Hayes continue their support of the team. Thank You. p.s. - happy 600th

The thing you forgot to mention is, the other week the government said that it did not know how many immigrants we had in this country.

yeah good idea. how about we just stick the house of lords into the thames and save us all a few million - something tells me the polish nurse who lives next door to me contributes a fair amount more than your lordship

The problem with aristocracy is that they own land. In france they did the sensible thing and chopped off all their heads and took possession of the land.
A few hundred years later, when they wanted to build a high speed rail network, they could drive a straight line from A to B, rather than having to skirt around some cunts field.
