have you got the XP boot disc?
stick it in th CD drive (don't allow it to autorun) then restart. SHould then give you the option to re-install windows. Make sure you do a full format. This will wipe ALL your data

yup. just stick it in, the boot up the pc. It should then ask if you want to repair or re-install. You will probably need the windows authentication number too, (should be on the side of the pc on a sticker somewhere). Did the computer connect to the net as soon as you started it when you first got it? Otherwise you may need to download network drivers before hand. Easier if you have a second connection somewhere, (laptop or something) incase you have to download anything. Once installed you will have to update your system. Will take some time, with several restarts. Then install the follopwing firefox - a safer browser then internet explorer (I believe) avg anti virusThat should set you going again. Hope it helps

ah, the old MAC thingy. Yes they are better sometimes, but why pay so much more money, when you could just get a free version of linux? Sometimes you have to use windows for specific programs, (I know about bootcamp though..). The will be viruses for Macs as more and more people use them, the hackers will see an opportunity.

back up the hard drive onto a memory stick/DVDs, shut the PC down. remove the hard drive, smash it up with a hammer, buy a new hard drive costs about £30 for a 160GB one. Put the new hard drive in. Then boot up the PC, put the Windows XP disc in again. Install XP, install AVG and Windows Defender (both free). Insert memory stick, run virus scan, clean memory stick up and copy back up files back over.

best to try a steamroller then.
Not quite sure what your problem (pc's not yours) is. Don't understand why you can't do a fresh boot. (i am no expert though). Do you have any computer savy mates. Try asking them to pop round and have a look at it.
