Sporting Life / SkyBet, are reporting money for Ryan Shawcross to join Man Utd.
Hope that's just a few speculative punts from people with more money than sense.

This late in the window it would take a very large bid plus a player in return, can't see it happening somehow.

Another example of how the many parts of the Murdoch empire feed each other.
Sky bet provide "news" about money for x,y,z. News outlets provide free advertising for the gambling providers, while at the same time persuading some gormless punters into making bets that Skybet probably have a pretty good idea are highly unlikely to come off.

Is this the same SkyBet that took a wedge on him going to Everton last night?

Not gonna happen, BUT if they pay well over the odds then we'd be fools not to.
Player - 20m Loss of Captain damages - 5m Future loss of value damages - 5m Hated by Arsenal bonus - 10m
= 40m.

Is this the same SkyBet that took a wedge on him going to Everton last night? Murdoch has still to be locked up for his part in the phone hacking scandal in my view.

Cynical but true on so many levels. In this instance I just hope it is the Murdoch empire and said gormless punters who are the only ones involved.

In the (hopefully!) unlikely event that this happened and if Smalling came to Stoke as part of the deal, I wonder which player would feature in Woy's next England squad....?

Why would Ryan choose to sit on the bench as understudy to such established internationals as Jones, Smalling and Evans?

Unless they went absolutely mad on an Andy Carroll/Fellaini level with a bid, AND we had a replacement lined up, there's no way we'd sell Ryan today (not that I believe there's any truth in this rumour). The premier league's worth too much these days for a club to threaten their survival in it by selling their captain and best defender on deadline day just cos some gimp's turned up with a wodge of cash.

That is the starting price - but be ready to drive it up. At £50m it would still be a bargain for Man U; the mainstay of their team for the next 7 seasons - oh, and their captain to boot within 3 months. But, better still, tell them to lump it. Edit; include an add on clause as well; 1 million for every England cap. That'll double our money over time!

Do they still have first refusal?
Anyways, he's at a club on the way up, why would he want to go to a club in decline?

don't see any need for Man Utd. to panic buy anyway. if they play like they did against Burnley then they've probably got just enough to stay up this season anyway and then try to consolidate next year, maybe even nick a top 10 spot!

Don't go overboard, a good 5 years of consolidation is needed in this league before you can start even thinking about top 10!

Man Utd - no European football, no Capital Cup football, currently below us in the league, current England players at the club ahead of him? The main temptation (more money of course) is that he has always been a Man Utd fan - MH would understand any possible dilemma at returning to his boyhood club, as he returned there in 1988

Don't go overboard, a good 5 years of consolidation is needed in this league before you can start even thinking about top 10! they have got a Pulis-esque 5 year plan in place already that they started last seaon: 1st year = Get a Prem class managaer, play shit and blame it on the manager 2nd year = Get a World Class manager in, play shit then blame it on the fact that Fergie left them a shit squad 3rd year = Tell everyone it's a rebuilding job so they then have an excuse for being so shit 3 years in a row 4th year = Continue to "evolve" their game whilst underperforming after spending £630 million in one transfer window 5th year = Bring back Fergie out of pure desperation it's all (as a great man once said) about "Managing expectations"....you basically just lower them like mad for a few years then anything you do subsequently is seen as a "Step in the right direction" . piece of piss this managing lark!
