Here's my betting preview for our game at Man City: www.olbg.com/blogs/post.php?id=407616 The Man City perspective is a good read too: www.olbg.com/blogs/post.php?id=407605Currently drawing up my shortlist for this weekend's games. I won't be staking anything on our match, but quite like the look of the following: NEWCASTLE v Palace (3/4) - a bit short that, but Palace look rudderless without Tone. NORWICH v Bournemouth (11/10)- Bournemouth are a decent side, but Norwich were very impressive last week v Ipswich. Look the best bet to go back up from the relegated sides. WATFORD v Huddersfield (3/4)- Watford look a lot better than last season. Huddersfield pretty poor. PORT VALE v Chesterfield (2/1)- I think 2/1 is a massive price on Vale at home. They were playing well in the first few weeks, while Chesterfield aren't as good as early results suggest. PORTSMOUTH v Newport (EVS)- Fancy Portsmouth to go up and they've started well. What's everyone else having? whydelilah

I'm just looking at my selections as we speak mate. Initial thoughts: -
A quick thing of interest - all new Coral customers can get 2/1 on a Man City win tomorrow (max bet £10). I've already got an account but if you don't, get on it. We'd all happily lose the tenner if it meant getting a result. If we don't, it will bumper your coffers for future bets.
I like the look of Swansea and Newcastle, home wins (the double pays around 2.2/1). I might throw Arsenal in and make it a treble (pays just under 5/1).

Just one big bet this weekend, Sunderland not to lose at QPR , odds 1.64 ( dutched ) on B365.
QPR have looked awful so far.

I considered both of them as well as Newcastle. The thing that puts me off Arsenal is Giroud being injured- thought they looked awful without him at Everton. Might still have enough to beat Leicester though. Swansea should win- not sure why I missed that one off. May well have them in a double with Castle and then have a speculative few quid on the others.

I might leave Arsenal out and increase the stake, or throw them in and reduce the outlay. I'm looking for a longer odds punt too. I'll post that up later.

Outstanding mate!!! "When you first get promoted to the Premiership, games against teams like Manchester City can have you practically ruining your pants with excitement. You know that you're going to get trounced, but the novelty of even being there is enough to get you buzzing. However, when entering your seventh consecutive top-flight season, a trip to the Etihad is about as appealing as receiving a prostate examination from Pat Jennings. Even worse in fact, because at least that would only involve one finger; every time that Stoke head up the M6 to the light blue half of Manchester we come back with everything but the kitchen sink inserted up there."

Rule number 1 - Bet with your head, not your heart. I do agree though - I hate betting against us. I'd make an exception in this case though. In most markets we are as short as 1/7 so 2/1 is too good to turn down. Given a choice mind, I'd rather lose the tenner. And yes, I do have understanding of what it is like to be a Stoke City supporter. Thanks for the concern though.

The only way I'd ever consider backing against Stoke is say a £50 bet on Stoke to get relegated or something of that ilk, because if the worst did happen and we were to get relegated, £500 of the bookies money to spend on a holiday to get over the horror of relegation would not be a bad consolation. (I've never as of yet done this by the way, I'm just saying it's probably the only way I ever would back against Stoke)

Good read and sadly probably accurate.
Eyes still watering at the prospect of the prostrate exam by Jennings.
Going by the old adage of never to marry a woman with big hands, presumably he would make everything else look small as well...

Haven't posted for a while and i haven't had a bet either so i succumbed to skybet offering me a free £5 bet if i stuck a fiver in, and getting the itch after reading this thread Trouserdog fucking drawing me in with his fanciful talk Deposited a fiver. Had free fiver bet on forest and derby both teams to score and win, 15/1. Also a 5 quid treble on swansea, west ham and norwich which would return 50. We'll see....
