Not long for this earth at the way he's going, genius with a ball, a real hero of mine years ago.

Breaks the heart, a great talent, riddled by a terrible addiction

There really ought to be a safety net for players like Gazza , Huddy and Best. Unbelievable talent but personal demons.

Those are really depressing pictures of Gazza and you have to fear for him.
So sad.

There's a very fine line between genius and self destruction. ..which Gazza appears to have crossed.
Very sad.

As much as i would be really say if he passed away I think I would be happy for him knowing he would finally be at peace.
The poor bloke is in a really bad way judging by those pictures and i only want to remember him for his amazing talent in the pitch, not the shambolic life off it.

Yes...I know some might scoff , but the only thing that can save Gazza now is the the likes of Lundy. A £3 million pad on Sandbanks is not the way forward.
He needs seagulls , fresh air and isolation. There is no alternative.

I agree mumf , that's exactly the place he needs to be in ....it's a lovely island , I could quite happily live there myself.....magnificent isolation .

The trouble is that cold turkey is not a good idea for the alcohol soaked organs of Gazza or any other piss 'ead. Once he's over the physical dependency then you're right Mumf. A few months of isolation would do the daft cunt the world of good. Mind you it's difficult to understand him when he's sober so no one will know whether he's on the wagon or on the bottle.

Tragic. It didn't help that he managed to surround himself with arseholes for most of his life. Its difficult to see a happy ending in all this which would be a genuine fucking shame. A great player and an actual loveable Geordie, which is rare.

Very sad. He needs help. Above all he needs to be supported by people who truly care not ones who were only interested in living off his money

I wonder in reality how many alcoholics chose to be and how many "social drinkers" don't recognise the onset of addiction. A sad indictment of your view of fellow humans, that they are bums taking up oxygen.

I do struggle to find sympathy for someone that's had as many opportunities as he has, in the position he's in, that has pissed every single one of them up the wall, but it's clear you have no understanding of what addiction and mental illnesses are.

I agree with the people that are shunning this. In life you have a choice and Gazza, along with many men and women, has chosen to drink excessively. The excessive drinking has lead to an addiction, yet many people claim it's such a shame etc.
Let's look at it another way, if somebody tries smoking, gets addicted and ends up smoking 20 a day. Nobody professes how tragic that is, when effectively it is the same thing. Nowadays people demonise smoking, these people would be looked at in disgust, not with the sympathetic eyes that alcoholics get.

It's a shame to see an icon end up like this. After so many attempts its obvious there is no helping him.

Fuck it, everyone's got their own problems to deal with without having his papered everywhere. Poor situation but he's not the only one with issues. He also has the opportunity to get out of this mess but seems to not have the willpower to do anything about it. First and foremost you have to want to help yourself before others will be able to. Hence the number of times he's been in rehab and subsequently regressed.
He looks physically to me like he's got more than alcohol problems too.

Just looked at the pictures and by what other posters were saying I was expecting him in a hospital bed hooked up to a life support machine. He was drunk and being taken away by paramedics, he was able to walk to the ambulance. Once sober he will be released. Wikipaedia gives his age as 47 and he looks better than some 47 year olds.
Other questions ought to be why was he being evicted from his flat? What kind of help can be effective when a 6000 pound rehab has obviously failed?
But yes, it is sad when a legend is pictured in such a way.

He needs a lot of help and I hope he gets it. However, he's had help before and it clearly hasn't been successful in exorcising his demons
I wish him all the best, but fear I will be putting him in my Celebrity Death League next year :-(
