I knew leaving him off the SCFCMT roster for EPL game day 1 was a bad idea. Expect the Southampton Saints to draft him.

The fact that he can attract widespread interest from different Countries tells you something. I am not convinced he is one we can afford to lose, but it seems the Club see the chance of a decent return, unlike some of our other squad players.

After Bardsley's horrid debut following a offseason of overhyped promise is anyone surprised? Im not. I'd rather sell Geoff and Bardsley for Richards. I don't know whats worse stepping in at rb or plying your trade as a "natural" and ending unable to control or setup basic passes... I hope this gets resolved because it's looking like we might end up with Bardsley and Wilko at RB.... Fuck...

You better hope. Because Cameron and Bardsley are mediocre at the position. He needs a RWB type and it's blatantly obvious... Does he cash in on Geoff who's 29 and has many offers? You'd hope right?

Realistically, he's never going to play in centre defence and there's better ahead of him in midfield.
If he's no stomach to fight for a place somewhere, he's best gone.
No big loss. Cash in and move on.

I defend Geoff all the time but right now, his role is as a right back. I just can't see him at centre back or centre midfield so If rb doesn't satisfy him, well, a shame it is but he might have to go.
I don't want him to go. I genuinely believe he's better than Bardsley and we'd be daft to let him leave after a dreadful performance by Phil but it sounds like he wants away anyway.

It's funny, this 'dreadful performance' by Phil saw him do a lot of the stuff people criticised Cameron for last season, when the same people swore blind that it was all part of a nasty anti-American agenda and that these were deficiencies were all part of being a modern, attacking full back.

Thought he did well, especially considering it was his first game and he'd little cover in front of him. Not to mention he was one of our better attacking threats.

I'm looking forward to looking back on this season, I wonder how many will hide under a rock or openly admit we perhaps should have persevered with Geoff at right back.

Wouldn't judge any player on that game, if we do we are in big trouble. All of them a capable of much better as we will see. Cameron and Odem were left out just ad they were last to join pre season nothing sinister. Not sure that the interest from several countries will end to firm offers but it would make sense to bring in Richards as he clearly doesn't wish to play right back.

He made good runs and actually posed a threat going forward, rather than wafting in slow crosses with the outside of his boot that a one-armed baby could catch, so that's one plus. Funny how many mistakes you notice that you were blind to last season, almost as if you were on the edge of your seat watching for them.

Cameron is far more effective pushing forward and actually has the ball control to link up play. Bardsley piled forward like a school child with ADHD. Lots of enthusiasm, no idea. His penalty shout was a good example of that. Still better not be too negative, he's the Oatcake Messiah.

I would hope that all of our players are desperate to be in the starting 11 or at least on the bench with a realistic chance of game time.
Those that will only have a bit part role, especially the more mature members of the squad will probably be looking at other options at a club where they will play for most of the time.
Geoff looked a little lost when he first played for Stoke, but made a great job of playing at RB despite it not been his preferred role and he did support the attack.
Some of his crosses were wayward - no different to a lot of others moving out of defence.
At this moment in time I think that he is more effective than Bardsley - both are aged 29!
The club can only have so much back up for each position and keep everyone happy - a pity because he is more flexible that Bardsley imo
I thought that he would be a certainty for the Portsmouth game to allow MH to see how he would gel with the new boys, possibly only on the bench for Hull.
He has played a major part in "spreading the word" that Stoke City is an established ambitious club - I wish him all the best if he does move on

Geoff is 29 a current full USA international and just played in the World Cup...if we're going to cash in on him, now is the time for sure. It's a shame because I like Cameron but it makes good business sense. Hopefully we'll find appropriate DEFENSIVE cover rather than a midfielder.

So when Cameron goes forward it's "effective" despite him not being able to pass or cross, but Bardsley actually making good runs and getting into dangerous positions is "like a school child?". And him having a half-decent shout for a penalty is an example of his ineptitude? I've obviously missed his 'great link up play', I've seen him shank a few out of touch unchallenged with the best of them. Must be great on Planet Geoff though.

Also, the ripping of Bardsley is quite unfair. The goal was due to Pieters moving out of position subsequently leaving a MASSIVE hole and a poor attempt at a tackle from Wilson...otherwise it would have been 0-0 and people wouldn't have been kicking up half the fuss they are now

Can't say whether Bardsley is better, after one fairly middling performance in his debut, especially as he was covering all defensive and attacking duties on his own.
One thing is for sure. Cameron ain't a right back. No positional discipline whatsoever. He's a good player, but where would we accommodate him in this system now?

I've never really been to watch any other teams often enough to notice, but do other clubs have supporters who blindly take against their own from the off for no logical reason?
It's got to the stage with Stoke now that people are just making stuff up to justify their position.
At the Betis friendly I sat next to a couple of blokes who were insistant that every time Arnie went anywhere close to the technical area it was to ask to be subbed off because "he's fucking bone idle". Clearly this was rubbish, but that didn't matter. Fortunately for Arnie Bardsley has taken on the boo boy mantle.
Let's face it, he could've scored a hatrick on Saturday, smashing the last one in from a zlatan style 35 yard overhead kick, and people would still have said he was shit. Most of them had formed their view a few minutes after he signed.
He's now my favourite player and I will be screaming "goooooaaaarn Phil" Pulis style at every opportunity. Hopefully it'll irritate a few folk.

Jesus friggin wept. Some of you that are 'leaping' on Bardsley after ONE GAME need to get a grip. I well remember Danny Higginbotham's debut for us, which was a nightmare, but he turned out ok. To judge the bloke on one game is pathetic.
Where Geoff is concerned, it seems very unlikely that he will be played in the current Stoke team in the role he wants given the competition and Stoke DO need to cut their staff somewhere, having added another six players. We all know the players that we'd like to see go but, if nobody actually wants to sign those players, Stoke will have to consider losing a couple that they'd probably rather keep - especially if they can recoup some decent money. I'd be sad to lose Geoff but that's modern day football.

I like Geoff and think he is our best RB and he also offers cover for other positions too.
However it does seem that the manager prefers Bardsley at RB. I don´t see Cameron being happy as a regular sub so if we can get a suitable fee for him it would make sense for all parties to let him go.
Personally I see him as being worth about 5M.
It is clear that many on here have not appreciated Cameron as a player and see Phil Bardsley as a major upgrade. I have read a few reactions from Sunderland sites and articles about Bardsley´s departure and have concluded that whilst he did have some fans he was seen as a "marmite" player with most on the don´t like side.
Some compared him to Danny Collins and Nyron Nosworthy; both players who also seemed to divide the Sunderland fan base.
