Rather odd, unless he requested it.
Still no sign of Odem or Cameron.
Shotton and Shea also started

Adam was booked as well, I hope it will not be added to the ones he will collect in the Premier League.

is that for players under the age of 21 or for those that have less than 21 teeth?

Maybe they think he's lacking a bit of fitness and needs the extra work out.

He doesn't need to be in the shop window - he needs to be on the pitch. Stoke's 2nd highest goalscorer in the league last year - only 1 goal behind Crouch.

I know it's wrong but I am quietly impressed that Charlie managed to get himself booked in a fixture as nondescript as this one

It's a nice to have a local lad in the academy who's rated so highly and has chosen to commit himself to the team he supports.

Still remember going mental when Charlie hit that screamer of a game winner at the Brit versus Man U and the subsequent forum meltdown... Classic. Good re-read if your into nostalgia. But for that alone, and his contribution to drive us forward from the middle well, I love me some chubby charles

I saw the second half (don't ask why I missed the first half) They played the three 'first teamers' to give them match fitness. The U-21s are allowed to play three overage players in each fixture (should they wish). Shotton looked good! and helped the players around him - my understanding is that Stoke are hoping to loan him out. Shea played up front and had a late header well saved. Charlie also made an effort like Shotton but I felt Shea was quiet. Villa had Drew (who equalised ) a first teamer out on the pitch too and Joe Cole played up front. Ollie Shenton looked good and Sam at centre half was strong. Robbie Parry also impressed me Dale Eve made some good saves but seems to like to dwell on the ball when in possession - unusual for a keeper. The Bodymoor heath training facility is amazing. A word of warning they don't let everybody in to the games that kick off during the weekday afternoons so if you are wanting to go to an U-21 match then check first I saw 5 Villa fans turned away and one kiddie was in their academy! Go figure! About 50 in attendance relatives an scouts

Sounds like this Shenton kid has a bright future. Get him tied down to a nice 5 year contract so he can't piss off to a bigger club

Maybe they think he's lacking a bit of fitness and needs the extra work out. Looking at the squad, he must have realised that if he wants to hold down a place, even on the bench, he has to finally get to grips with this issue. A fit and focussed Adam would be like a new signing. I'm desperate to see Charlie in the deep playmaker role, we shouldn't be relying on Glen carrying everything out of defence. That's not his strength.
