According to the news, someone in Wales is being monitored for potentially having Ebola. Scary stuff.
The biggest worry is if certain terrorist groups use Ebola-carriers as 'dirty bombs' in major cities.

Thankfully its extremely easy to kill the virus outside the body and you only transmit it when you're visibly on deaths door. Still, scary as shit.

Ebola seems like something that would have less of an impact in countries with better medical facilities, the main problems are the loss of fluids and bleeding - both of which are quite easily treatable though the use of drips and coagulants as well as actual transfusions should it be needed.

I think the problem is the spread via fluids in congested cities the virus could spread quite easily. We're certainly better equipped in terms of detection and isn't the issue in Africa to do with burial techniques of the recently deceased?

Ebola is an incredibly delicate and difficult virus to transmit, between 1976-2013 less than 1000 a year were infected, compared to something like flu this is absolutely nothing. Obviously it's far more deadly disease than flu in terms of mortality but with correct controls in place there is no reason why it can't be controlled. The difficulty arises when relatives of the peopled quarantined by the disease break into hospitals to release their family members, as has happened in West Africa. The response has been too slow and unfortunately it's going to cost people their lives.
As for bio-terrorism, it would have to be an incredibly sophisticated attack, and the carrier would have to literally spit down people's throats.

Donald Trump is under fire for saying that the medics that the USA have sent should not be allowed back in USA, and that they knew the risks and consequences before they left, bit harsh, but he does raise an interesting one, bit like the medics in the Dustin Hoffman film, Outbreak, I think....

Fair point imo. No matter how careful you are theres always a risk, or they wouldnt have caught it in the first place.

Here we go again same as bird flu and all the other viruses that have threatened mankind over the last decade only to disappear after the pharmaceuticals have made their killing from producing millions of vaccines and selling them to a gullible western world.

Number of cases per day is currently doubling every few weeks according to the charity Save the Children. If that trend actually continues it's going to kill a lot of people.
Yet, we are being told that its "incredibly hard to transmit", however, there's a major world summit in London today for "something we don't need to worry about"....
Starkiller ??

Was watching CNN earlier, the case in USA is an interesting one. The Liberian who had treated a victim in his home country lied about it on a questionnaire, and even if he hadn't he'd have still got through because he showed no signs, it has a 2 to 20 day incubation period. He then started showing signs at the house where he was staying, and then admitted to ICU in a USA Hospital. They were interviewing his landlady and she was saying that no one had been round to isolate the house, she was just told to stay at home and put his pyjamas and bed clothes in plastic bags. Not quite like Hollywood... Was expecting Tommy Lee Jones to descend upon the place with the entire US Army and place the whole town in quarantine and shoot anyone who disobeys his curfew, whilst Dustin Hoffman and his estranged wife furiously try to find a cure....

Hollywood has a lot to answer for here!!
as has been pointed out....incredibly hard to contract (not airborne in any way despite what films would have you believe) and quite easy to treat in first world countries. the reason for the amount of deaths in Africa is simply down to a complete lack of facilities, drugs and money to counter the problem.
for us lucky people who live in less deprived areas of the world there really isn't much at all to be concerned about....apart from why we aren't doing more to help those in parts of the world where it IS a genuine concern!

I shouldn't be too facetious, but what the heck can the army achieve? Unless it's a spot of germ warfare practice.
