I've been in love with bikes since I first rode an ItalJet 50 when I was about 8 years old.
I'm a massive fan of 50cc "mopeds" and had a RD50 as my my first road bike. I ride a scooter now.
I've always been fascinated with Crossers and have owned and raced a few.
But the big Jap multi's have always got my attention. What bikes do you like and why?
My favourite has to be the Massimo Tamburini trellis framed masterpiece the incomparable Ducati 916, in red, of course. This bike came out of nowhere and in a single stroke redefined the motorcycle both in terms of looks and performance. Carl Fogarty went on to dominate World Superbike on this bike and its variants the 996 and the 998.
I don't think there has ever been a better machine.
Short history of Carl Fogarty. Inextricably linked with the Ducati 916 forever, just look into his eyes, he was summat else.

I have been seriously considering buying a motorbike after years without one. I've lost touch with the motorbike scene altogether. I want to know which bike to go for. I want something safe , comfortable and easy to ride. I want some with enough power to get me 'out of trouble' if needed.
I don't want a sports bike like a Ducati or anything like that.
My budget is up to £3000 but I don't want to buy a new one...second hand only.
I have had several bikes many years ago.
Any ideas.?

Well I've been looking at these type of things but I'm not sure if I want a scooter... Are they twist and go , or do they have gears like a traditional bike.?
They do look comfortable and my pigeons could sit on the back.

Unfaired Moto Guzzi or R-Series BMW; Triumph Bonneville T100 repro; or for less character but more reliability, Honda CB, Suzuki GS or similar. All within budget.

Good for 120mph. I love 'em.

"Short time with a Honda 400 four". What a bike. I loved the 400/Four.
It was particularly suited to small riders...?
Who writes this stuff? And then videos themselves being dreary wankers?

2 Honda 250 Superdreams which were ace at the time and I did a RAC. ACU Course for advanced motorcycling at Brown hills school run by Staffordshire Police.
Then I packed them in.

Then car! A beautiful Austin Allegro, I hated it! I often wish I had a bike but it may be something to do with the male menopause! Plus it seems a right palava to get your CBT!

I'm from a motorcycling family so I guess it's in my blood. When I was a kid (late 70s, early 80s), Triumph motorcycles really caught my eye. They just looked such a handsome machine, sounded great and looked like an entry into a world of rockers and cool isolation. I've since owned a 750 Bonneville and it's a love, hate relationship to say the least. Wonderful when they're going, frustrating when broken. Welcome to the world of old bikes. I'm looking to buy a late BSA Lightning or Thunderbolt at the moment, I'm too content with my modern Triumph- I need some pain!

This is what you want. The Richard Thompson version. yeah, I'm very familiar with that from Richard Thompson, and its great and of course the song is his. I just love bluegrass though, something about the sound just makes you feel alive. I don't know why, maybe because we lived in the USA when I was very young, that sound just feels like the call of the wild to me.

Been riding a CBF 125 for the last year or so but I'm booking my DAS for next month hopefully. Passed my theory not long ago..
Planning on buying a Kawasaki er6, or if I land a new job then I'll splash out on a Triumph Street Triple (quite literally).
Gotta admit as much as I love bikes the new EU laws really put me off slightly, I wish I had just got a car licence and used that until I turn 24. But instead I'll have to do 2 tests to be able to ride whatever capacity I want, and even then I'll have to wait 2 years to do my second test. Car users don't get this bullshit treatment do they?

It's pretty harsh. I did my bike test back in 1984, it was still a two-part thing back then and had to do weeks of cone riding up at Brown Hills School. Was forever getting pulled over by traffic cops who used to hand out those pain in the arse "producer tickets" for bugger all.

Yeah, I don't mind the mod 1 and mod 2 thing. But you have to do an A2 full test at my age, to get a restricted bike (47 bhp) and then an A test two years later.

It's ridiculous given that motorcycles could really help with traffic congestion around cities. It's almost like the government wants to deter new people wanting to get into motorcycling, insurance rates too are ridiculous. Once the motorcycle was the transport of the poorer man, now it's almost the rich man's plaything. It's all made even more ridiculous when young Tarquin can pas his car test and then jump straight into daddy's Ferrari or mummy's Porsche as long as they can foot the insurance.

We are far too car obsessed in the UK.
