Last year Hughes came in to replace a Manager that had done legendary things. The pressure was on because he wasn't particularly wanted by many but proved the doubters wrong with a great season.
This season all fans are on-board and expectations have risen. We (Inc me) expect a season as least as good as the last one, if not better don't we!?!? But I do have a slight concern that this could backfire on the club? A good start (as always) is important as if this doesn't happen, some fans are bound to turn.
I'll give him time, he deserves that but is he under pressure to deliver from the start?

I don't think the pressure will be on Hughes, it will be on on the club and making sure they can keep him as manager long term.

There's no more pressure ....there's more expectation and even more to look forward to. Sparky has done the hard bit which was the transition from Tony Pulis and keeping us up. We have now reached to some extent cruising altitude .

There is more expectation and, therefore, more pressure - the difference being our current manager isn't terrified of his own shadow and thrives on adventure...

I can see where you're coming from, but the beauty of it today is that every other manager in the game is under the same pressures. Providing we're sensible and patient about it, expecting and accepting that there's bound to be hiccups along the way,and providing that Sir Peter will give him his usual reliable backing, I don't think we have too much to worry about. As you say, our own expectations could be the biggest problem, so if we rein in those expectations a little, we should be o.k.

Pressure and expectation?
Let's hope so as it means we are doing something right.
I don't mind if we finish lower and on less points next season. It's just nice to enjoy watching a bit of positive football, it's why we fell in love with the game in the first place.

Probably, there has been a load of bollocks spouted on here, how we are going to take the league by storm. The reality is we will do well to finish where we did last season, and hopefully be out of trouble the whole season.

Expectation is high and it equates to a pressure of a kind.
For me I think it is highly unlikely we will finish as high up as last season so I am prepared for a dose of disappointment.

We now have players like Arnie and N'Zonzi who won't be affected by pressure, which why I hope we don't get dragged into a full relegation battle.

Hughes and that squad are top ten material, if we finish tenth it's been a good season, as long as we kick some "big clubs" arses along the way i'm happy.
I think Hughes is looking to target one of the cups myself, we have a squad to compete for a good cup run and top 10 now imo. Hughes will deliver he knows what he's doing.

There shouldn't be, we're a mid table team and most know it, I don't see why there should be anymore than normal.

I agree Nearly every game last season regardless of result I came out if the ground feeling entertained It was perhaps 1 in 4/5 of the games in the last regime

Hughes proved a few people wrong last season, so the nature of the beast suggests that they'll be waiting in the wings to pounce as soon as a few results don't go our way.

I think the consistency is more the goal. The pressure is not for Stoke to enter the realm of Continental Qualifications, but rather maintaining the level of success we set last season is what the goal is. To be honest, I would be enthralled with another 9th place finish, and I'd be quite satisfied with a good show at 10th or 11th.
