There are some nice places in Piccadilly. It seems to be a thing though - one area of a town is redeveloped at great expense, while another area of it declines. And so the process continues, with a relatively recent redeveloped place declining.
But on topic, I don't think the patisserie is closing just because of lack of footfall (I originally wrote football) - Ms Sidibe has other plans.

Stoke Council a joke..... Take some tips from Newcastle Council.. Always updating and replacing shoddy buildings The grass is always greener over the hill! I'm not sure how many Newcastle residents think taking tips from Newcastle council is a good idea. Take the Victorian school that was demolished after years of inaction saw it decay, and the headline for the replacement building today: "Newcastle's £15.4m Castle House is still not ready because of damaged cladding" - it should've been ready in October. The council, library, police and more were supposed to be moving there. There are rumours of subsidence too. If it's not ready by May, the council will have nowhere to go, as their current offices are due for redevelopment. It's a bigger joke than the Smithfield was in Hanley. Admittedly it's not all the council's fault. Not to mention the developers the council supported all the way to what looks like bankruptcy and a half finished white elephant where Jubilee Pool was. And a new development three times the size and even less viable granted planning permission on the old council offices and old Sainsbos site.

These comments about Hanley are a shame and a bit off the mark imo. As LGH mentions the Piccadilly area is actually pretty decent with some fantastic independent shops/cafes/restaurants/bars. I'm not sure if people don't know about it or what? But they really do need your support as they are exactly what Hanley needs. Hanley is way better than 5 or 10 years ago. But it still FEELS so demoralised, you know? The overall layout still isn't working either, despite all the spend it doesn't feel a proper town centre in the way Stoke and Longton do.

Home of The Day of the Dead? You’re being sarcastic surely?

You’re being sarcastic surely? Weirdly, I'm not! I know there's bugger all in Longton, Stoke and Tunstall town centres any more except the markets but they're designed like towns, they have a centre and a character (admittedly a Day of the Dead one in Longotn on a bad day), you know you actually are somewhere but Hanley you just don't somehow. Maybe that's just me... Alan, Cheryl, sorry I missed Fenton out

I went the new cinema complex the other week and was pleasantly surprised. Sure it's just the same restaurant chains you get everywhere else but you know what, I quite like a Nando's. And there was barely a scumbag in sight. I just don't fancy a night of drinking up there any time soon.

It's not big enough to warrant a special trip though unless you're going the theatre. Bottle Craft's good but there's a circuit of places like that up 'castle.
