How many times has this been said over the last few years? Too many! The problem is that now the clubs doing well & just 3 pts from the play-offs some supporters seem to be lacking ambition. I keep reading "we're not going to make the play-offs" or "we'll finish mid-table & can go for the play-offs next season" statements similar to that & i have to ask " why can't we go up"? It's only a 3pt gap now so lets all show a bit of ambition ourselves & be positive. We've proved a match for anybody this season & there's no team in this division that we can't beat. Yes there's alot of clubs in with a chance but trhere's no reason why we can't do it. We've even coped well with having crucial players (e.g Johnny Eustace) out lately. There's always one club that sneaks in to the play-offs towards the end of the season & we're good enough to do it.

I think it's a case of us supporters 'hoping but not 'expecting' to get into the play-offs. We don't want to put unnecessary pressure on the lads. They're performing their hearts out at the moment and for that we should be truely thankful. I'm prepared to just carry on turning up and hoping we get the right result. If that carries us on to the play-offs then that will be fantastic. If not, then we have still made a massive improvement from last season and if we make the same massive improvement next season then we would probabley go up automatically

I don't think we lack ambition but just being realistic. We haven't been in a play off place since the opening weeks of the season so IMHO to think we'll get there is unlikely but as you say a possibility.

If we'd beaten Crewe by 6 goals, we'd be in 6th place now. How much closer do we need to be before people start thinking we can go for it?

We need to be in 3rd-6th after 46 games for me to believe we're in the play-offs. And, we need to have scored more goals than the opposition when the referee blows the final whistle in the Play-Off final before I start to think about the Premiershit.
I am taking nothing for granted now-a-days. Remember all the times under Gudjon we were well placed for automatic promtion but faded badley. Okay, this team is different from Gudjons but bad form can happen to any team. Look at ManUre at the momet.

If we're within 2 points with 1 game to go then I'll start to consider it

Simple answer is that it is to expensive.
The club have realised it with the cheap tickets next season.
I think most clubs in a similar postion to Stoke e.g. Reading, Millwall are suffering from small crowds considering their place in the leage and a possible play-off place.

Look whatever happens the lads have done us proud. The pressures off now relegation is gone so lets have faith. THEY ARE GOOD ENOUGH YOU KNOW & IF WE BELIEVE THEN SO WILL THEY. They have done well but i believe my team are the best & they can beat anybody. I don't expect promotion but i do believe in em.

next 3 games will tell us IF we can
2 away & 1 at home at sides ahead of us in table ....
at the moment I keep thinking back to those 8 straight defeats and wish we had got a point here & there, but hey .... we are still in draem land compared to last season

Yes scitzo i did! I know we were dire there & also poor in 1 or 2 more but even the top lot have bad periods. I think the lads have shown that they are much better than that performance.

we could even go up a place this week if sunderland were to beat preston by 5 goals. whenever i am asked about ambitions in life i say the same thing,'to see stoke in the premiership once in my lifetime', it's getting close by the cringe, and part of me does not want to contemplate it yet the other(obviously stronger)half wants it to happen. Another day out at the mill stad, aah such memories!!!!! INHO the club would only go from strength to strength,it would of course force the club to strengthen the tea, clear debts etc. c'mon lets do it you rip roaring potters taggs and ade reckon its feasible why can't we?
