Watched Macc Town play Forest Green Rovers ( with their new star striker, Lee Hughes......) last night, and the referee was Amy Fearn.
She was brilliant, covered more ground than most of the players, never looked the slightest out of puff and - despite being about 5'2" - was not the slightest bit intimidated by the players, especially those that clearly thought they could just ignore her, amd handed out several yellow cards ignoring their protests of innocence.
Before anyone says that the Conference is as good as it gets / will ever get for female refs, that's as maybe but there are far more wild tackles and squaring up in the lower leagues and she handled it perfectly.

Good for her. No reason why a woman can't be as good as a man at reffing so long as she has the physical fitness for it - not the sort of fitness Mick Mills is on about above! Sian Massey has always impressed me when she has run the line at the Brit. She's far better than many of the (male) numpties we often see running the line in front of the Seddon stand. She makes her own decisions without looking to see what the ref wants (I hate that) and, as often as not, the replays suggest she is right.

Can't say i got near enough to notice :-)
But then the much higher-profile Sian Massey isn't that fit-looking either IMHO, far too skinny
But anyway, trust you - this was supposed to be a serious post about a good reffing performance

in all seriousness mate i think the only part of your OP you got wrong was about how some will say the Conf. is as good as it gets for female officials....i see absolutely no reason whatsoever why females won't be officiating in top flight matches in the coming years. fair enough women footballers won't play with the men for obvious physical reasons but there is nothing to suggest that men wouldn't listen to a woman officiating.
Sian Massey (who you both mention) never seems to have an issue with being a female in what is supposedly a male world at all and players seem to give her as much respect as they do the male officials. if anything, it would be nice to see officials that are there simply to officiate instead of trying to build some kind of celebrity for themselves like the current crop seem far too keen on doing.
as long as they know the rules of the game, that's all that's important.

To be honest i think some trained monkeys could do a better job a reffing than the big club arse licking male referees we have to put up with. Im all for giving women a chance. Dont think ive ever seen Sian Massey get a decision wrong. Give me a choice of Marriner or Massey to ref Stoke's next match id pick Sian everytime.

Very Iong neck. But don't you think 'fit' female officials would pose an issue Around some of the brain dead overpaid testosterone fuelled players?

Male, female or whatever, not bothered as long as they get it right, which Massey seems to do consistently.

She actually refereed a football league match in 2010. She also replaced an injured ref for the Wolves Coventry match last season.

not very fit though is she? I'd have sexual relations with her. Me too - any woman that knows the offside rule deserves to have a slice of my huge c*ck On the serious side, I think there is no reason why a woman should not officiate in the premier league. Lets face it, those that make it to the prem league will have probably had to be twice as good as their male counterparts.
