Against leicester when we went up. Football doesn't get any better than that. All the time in premier league, even thrashing bolton at wembley, last minute winners, consistently beating arsenal, europe. None of that compares to that day we went up.
I jumped on ric and gave him a big hug. I was in tears!
Getting to the prem has been better than being in it. Now it is all about whoever is richest can get away with the most amount of cheating. Not a fair playing field.
If we ever go down then it wouldn't be a bad thing, so long as we went back up again and i could enjoy it all. Championship is the best league in the world.

It's definitely an interesting league. It's also a killer if you get relegated without forward planning.

I couldn't go from watching stoke beating Manchester United, to us playing someone like Barnsley at home on a Tuesday night.
Obviously I'd still go to support my team, but I wouldn't be satisfied with getting relegated.

Realistically the best we can ever hope for is mid table obscurity and perhaps a cup run. A bit boring

No way.
We want an FA Cup , another League Cup (I was there for the last one.), and back in Europe, please. I want Stoke to be in the top ten; I realise fifth again isn't viable.

If we did get relegated and then got promoted again within say the next 2 or 3 seasons then it wouldn't be the same as back in 2008. Not in any way, shape or form.
Speaking personally, i'm too young to know Stoke City playing in the top flight. I was born when we were in the 1st division but by the time i started switching on to football we were in the 2nd division, then the 3rd. I seriously never, ever thought i'd see my team in the top flight, and had resigned myself to only hearing reminiscences from my dad, my uncle and my grandad of times when Stoke City plied their trade amongst the best teams in the land.
I remember chatting with a Vale supporting mate of mine in about 2006/07 when we were heading towards the play-off places and he said "I think it'd be funny to see Stoke in the Premier League, proper funny" and i replied "well it's never gonna happen mate so dunna worry about it"
Then in 2008 i saw something that will stay with me, and thousands of us forever, we actually made it to that promised land. A few generations of folk who had never known their local team to be anything but a lower league club witnessed something quite remarkable. I stood there in the stands as people invaded the pitch and for the first time i cried and i didn't care if anyone saw me, as nobody would care. Being at a Stoke City match, i had never felt that way before, or the way i felt before kick-off, to look around and see it packed out was beyond special and not in the same way as when we played Everton in the FA Cup.
I then watched, then re-watched every bit of footage from that day, bought all the Sentinel papers and various bits and bobs about our whole promotion and following parade and soaked it all in. We made it! We bloody made it! It was something that i couldn't quite get my head around, we were going to be in The Premier League? I still couldn't comprehend it fully during those first couple of seasons. I can almost picture every single moment making my way to and from that game against Aston Villa. You can't write nor make-up that kind of thing.
There's more i could write but i'm boring myself here, my point is, we've ALL grown accustomed to life in the Premier League. We know it inside out after 6 seasons being here, therefore if we went down and bounced right back up again it wouldn't get anywhere near to being close to that feeling we all felt in May 2008. We'd need in excess of 20 years in the lower divisions to get that kind of elation back again with a promotion and none of us want that.

Can't say I agree with this idea of 'mid table obscurity' like there's no excitement in Premier League football for a mid-table side... It's a constant fight, whether it be a relegation battle where we fight tooth and nail to stay above 17th or a fight to get into the top half of the table, and during all this overturning huge teams like Chelsea, Arsenal and United! We did all that THIS SEASON... I love seeing Stoke in the Premier League, it makes me immensely proud and long may it continue!
