I'm sure the ref bottled the second Delph incident deliberately. It occurred so soon after the first yellow (which should have been a red) that the ref clearly decided he'd get flack from Villa if he brandished a second yellow to Delph in the space of a few minutes. Luke 45 and I were discussing the game as we travelled down from Cumbria. We both thought it would be a miracle if Delph avoided a card. He's a talented player but his discipline is appalling and refs do themselves and the game no favours if they let him get away with as much as he does. If you are talking about the one in front of the Seddon then he won the ball LP Yeah he went in hard but he definitely won the ball But winning the ball is not the only criterion these days by which to judge whether a foul has or has not been comitted. That's been made clear by referees time and time again. And remember, the ref DID award a foul even though he didn't give a yellow.

Neither the referee or the excellent Sian Massey ( who was two feet away ) deemed it a red Correct decision for me as i would of been livid if a Stoke player had got a red for it

Did you (like me) think the second tackle was a yellow? To be honest I thought you were commenting on this one in your earlier post.

Yep he should of gone for two yellows Tbh the whole Villa back four were treading a fine line and they reminded me of us in that first season when we let opposition players know we were there They certainly put it about

If you are talking about the one in front of the Seddon then he won the ball LP Yeah he went in hard but he definitely won the ball It looked worse in real time than it did on the replays Wezzer, but it was a full on scissor tackle. He may have touched the ball but you couldn't say he played the ball. It was reckless and Brown got sent off for far less. And then having bottled that he then bottled the second yellow. Having said all that and that apart I thought he had a decent game. He lost it a bit after those incidents when Villa were putting it about a bit but he has the makings of a halfway decent ref which is all we've come to expect in the Prem. And LP yes I'm always impressed with her as well for the reasons you mention.

It's quite simple.
Weimann had too heavy a touch, he knew it and saw Wilson steaming in. As soon as he felt his studs touch the top of Wilson's boot he was down on the floor. The ball sailed through to Asmir.
1. I blame ex professionals in the media exonerating cheats by saying "but there was contact, and he had a right to go down" 2. If there was an appeal system for a yellow i'd appeal it as Wilson barely touched him. 3. I'd have booked Weimann for diving.

I thought Massey was a bit poor tbh for her at least. The Crouch flick on the post looked miles offside at the time and on MOTD but they never showed a replay across the line. If it was onside then I'll let her off.

Massey is not the best Linesperson. She is pretty good, but the other lino against Villa was Mullarkey is the best (that his name). He is part of Webb's world cup team!

I think she's the best because she never seems to get anything wrong and she's got cracking legs. If Mullarkey imacked, he might stand a chance! Seriously though, I do think she's the best linesman around.

In real time I thought he was miles offside but on the replays he was a good chunk onside. Villa were just slow coming out. Cracking spot by her.
