TP has always his liking of a big hold up player who can flick on , (Gifton and Mama - why he bought Parkin god only knows) so surly his main aim, which ever division we are in, should be finding that sort of player who can also score a bit? Neither Gifton or Mama had/has great striking records but each are/were auto choices for TP. Two strikers who can score has to be better than one who puts in hard graft and doesn't hit the onion bag. More goals , more points !!!

IF we go up, a quality forward who is a workhorse AND can score goals is essential. IMHO this particular position would be our most important signing and the one we would need to spend most money on.
Dave Kitson from Reading would be ideal and I would be delighted if we could get someone like him. People may laugh but Heskey isn't a bad call either.
On top of this, we would also need another 2m type striker like Earnsaw, Ameobi e.t.c to battle it out with Fuller for the starting place along side our big signing.

We wouldnt be where we are today without mama, he imporves out team dramatically when he is playing. If we wanted a player like mama that could score lots of goals then we would have to pay quite a lot of money. IMHO if we go up, mama should keep his place!

Everyone loves Mama all of a sudden Hard working goal-scorers are few and far between. See Kuyt, Heskey and Mama all running round like headless chickens, but, ultimately give up there positions for the other striker, just ask Torres.

I've always thought mama is class? just because he doesnt score doesnt mean he isn't an important member of the team?

mama fits into TP's one and only game plan, when theres no mama the team struggle. If mama's not on we should just play 4-4-2 and use the wingers, getting crosses into the box, to a target striker good with his head and fast striker. From what I've seen when mama isn't on we still play it to where he would have played.

The reason why we improve so much with Mama on is that our tactics are set up for him to be effective but when he doesn't play we still play the same way and nobody else can do what Mama does. If Mama doesn't play and we changed our tactics, say actually 4-4-2 not 4-4-1-1 with Fuller plus AN Other actually both up front then we would play better

To be fair to Mama, although he's had a couple of "comedy moments" in front of goal, how many chances does he actually get? And how does the ratio of goals: chances stack up against a "proper" striker?
We saw when Ade left that Gifton was capable of getting goals, but had been restricted by the supporting role he played.
I'm not saying Mama's a great striker, just that it's unfair to judge him on goals scored alone. On the rare occasions he gets a chance, he's just as likely to score a great goal (such as against Bristol last week or Colchester last season) as he is to blast it over the bar from two yards!

I think mama is the best attacking partner u could have in the championship he wins nearly every header and flick ons and works hard yes he isn't the best finisher but i bet someone like Kevin Phillips and any other striker would love to play with him.Without we do struggle so i keepin faith with Mama.

The answer is Marlon Harewood! A player who is way too good to be put on the subs bench! ???
