I personally hope we win and get auto promotion on sat,
Thats my selfish opinion though because im going to the ground on saturday and want to be a part of history along with 900 other stokies....i dont want to share my day with 10,000 plus glory hunters... where were they 10 years ago when we went to league one and we were getting 8 or 9k a game?
Dont get me wrong, im glad we can fill the stadium and im glad we'll fill it for most home games next season but i want to share the big day with them 9k loyal fans who sat with me in the freezing winter watching division 1 football.
I know its wrong to think like that and everyone has a right to be there, i just think some of us have more of a right than others.

I want us to win and get promoted on Saturday, even though I'll be listening on SC World, because I want to be able to enjoy the Leicester game and the week that preceeds it without biting my nails to the bone!

this thing about the "where were they" 10 years ago, I bet they still went to the odd game each season, but whats happening is all the part-timers are turning up for one game at the same time .
I have friends that used to go every game when we were in our youth, now they go a few games a year because of family commiments and such like. But every single one of them will be at the fester game

i agree people are entitled to their own opinion but you have to be careful not to generalise. there could be the odd glory hunter but i am sure there will be a lot in my situation. i have been part time for the last three years for personal reasons but before that was a season ticket holder and travelled away quite regularly. But i am moving back to the area now so premiership or championship i will have my ST back next year. So be careful not to play a guilt trip on honest supporters who have there reasons. MisterE

Totally agree mate, I remember sitting down at Dean Court in Bournemouth a few years back in pouring rain and freezing conditions, to have the oppurtunity that we may have on Saturday and see so many Stokie jumping for joy and goin absolutely mental would be the best thing ever and certainly make me forget those cold and rainy days.

And who can forget the delights of Bristol rovers , with their temp circus tent stand and uncovered terraces for us and when their fan ran on the pitch to hit Gavin Ward and instead of stopping him the police ran to us with batons out.... Memories ;D

I'm with John (Fornside) - won't be able to look forward to the Leicester game if there is still something on it - imagine living amongst 'em! C'mon Stoke...do if for all of us...on Saturday!

I agree with your point on saturday Glynburton, but theres loads of loyal fans who just can't get a ticket and some who just can't make it, i'll be there to enjoy it, but feel for those who can't and i hope the liecester game is the one where we get promoted as champions so everyone can enjoy....by the way what happened to the other 22000 at the fa cup game against scunny ?

I totally agree and don't think it is selfish at all, I go every game home and away including the last four pre seasons aboard and want promotion sooner than later!
I don't care where we do it, how we do it, as long as we do it!
Give me promotion tomorrow any day tomorrow and lets relax and enjoy sending Leicester down.
Come on Stoke!!

I find the ' I'm a more worthy supporter than you' sentiment really annoying. I used to watch Stoke 30+ matches per year, but now i have a young family this has reduced to 15ish. Is it wrong to put family before a football team? Does this make me a bad supporter? Am i a glory hunter ( didn't feel like it at Turf Moor!!!) In my eyes i support Stoke just as much as i ever had, and so it is pretty aggravating to see somebody write that, in effect, i don't deserve to see my team promoted.
Having said that if i was 19 again, free of commitments, and had gone to every game home and away, then maybe I'd agree with you.
Either way, have a great day at Colchester - lets just get fucking promoted!

Glyn if you turn the tv on and shite is on all the time eventually you will stop turning the tv on, if the programs get better then you start to whatch again even become addicted. Doesnt apply to me but can see why people stopped whatching and now the viewing is good they are comming back. Thats human nature not glory hunting. Glory hunting is living in stoke but supporting man ure.

I can understand regulars fustrations but there are a lot of like myself, who live afar and have to choose their games. Theres 12 of us in N.I. that get to 6-8 home games per season, we select the games that are likely to be a better atmosphere. We went to Wembley for the autoglass (twice) and were there for the playoff final in Cardiff also the last league game at the VIc. We have also been for Brentford, chesterfield and the likes. It costs us approx £500 per trip. If I lived local and went to most games and then when an important game came up I couldn't get a ticket I'd be furious.

i totally agree with you eddie, how many times have ALL of us come away from the brit when we had a crowd of 15k+ and said what a fucking atmosphere !! i don't care who comes down their money is as good as mine, but i do feel for those who miss out who go regular and can't get a ticket.

What EddieCurrent said !! I've been watching Stoke for over 25 years ! With the arrival of children and extra work commitments, I'm no less of a supporter just because I've only been to 60% of matches over the past few seasons. I'm glad the supporters are coming back in droves, we need every single one, so don't be so ready to chastise any part timers/stay aways. Luckily I've now moved closer and have been to 90% this season..... do I now qualify as a real fan ?

Sorry to spoil your elite 950 mate, but i've only been to 14 matches this season and i'll be at Layer road with a mate for who it will be his first game of the season. He has come from Tokyo for it though!

"....i dont want to share my day with 10,000 plus glory hunters"
Would suggest that the people at colchester are in some way separate to the 10k at the brit, so me and maybe other people in between our posts have applied the word elite. My post wasn't being arguementative, I just enjoyed the irony of someone being there who was at their first game of the season. No need to kick off about it. Enjoy the game.

I remember when I was the only fan attending a wednesday night away match at Wigan when they played at Springfiled Rd, I had to build the away end myself out of breezeblocks, then I had to cut the grass and mark out the pitch, make the sandwiches for the teams tea, iron the kit, all the while whipping myself with a birch twig for missing a tuesday night away game in 1973 that I couldnt get to because i was 5 and couldnt drive, then I watched the game in the rain, because I had run out of breezeblocks before I could build the roof, but it was sunny over the other 3 sides of the gorund, even though it was night, then the team bus wouldnt start and I had to carry each member of the team, the backroom staff and Nello in a piggy back relay back down the M6 whilst reciting the names of the first post war Stoke team to play on a thursday. Where were you all then???

And stand by my 10k glory hunter comment, When we were in division 1 we were getting about 9k, when we were in championshipship around 14k average over last few years, now because of peoples circumstances some people turn up some weeks and some dont so i'd like to think we have around 16k in regulars.....we've sold out for the last game, 28k if im not mistaken, 2k for away fans and if you take away the spare segregation seats that leaves 10k in tickets sold to people who probably havent even considered coming to the brit in the last 5 or 6 years....now all of sudden were on the brink of something good they all turn up....maybe glory hunters is a bit too strong a term, how does fair weather fans sound? I'm sure someone will correct me on my maths and seats etc now but i estimate on next sunday we will have 9 to 10k of fair weather fans in that stadium and going back to my original post i would like like to share the promotion party with a higher percentage of what i'll call bad weather fans, yes i know that not all bad weather fans can attend on saturday but i'd like to think that a high percentage of the fans on saturday are....Yes its selfish and yes its silly but and no it holds no real logic as i want all the fair weathers in the ground each week in the prem but i just want to get promoted without sitting next to someone who keeps saying..."who's that...who's that....is that fuller.....is that simmo..."
Im off to the hotel now in Colchester so hope ive explained my point and you can all call me a cock now without me replying ;D
