It will be such a proud moment. I am old enough & privelidged enough to have seen the glory years at Stoke, seen Sir Stan play ( even if I was only 12). Watched the early 70’s team & marvelled at Banks, drooled over Hudson & was in awe over Smithy. I was so lucky to see us win at Wembley & had tears in my eyes at Hillsbourgh. Lived (if you can call it that ) through the Alan Ball years – yet if we go up it will fill me with such pride, I can hug my 20 year old son & his best mate & watch them glow with pride as they finally get their reward for sticking with Stoke, whilst other mates glory hunted. It has cost me thousands over the years, in season tickets, travel & the like, I don’t begrudge a penny, to do this for all those who never saw Stoke in the top division will be priceless. And for the record in all my years as a Stokie I have never – ever been so bloody nervous, I never got this worked up before I got married & was never so nervous when my first born was on the way. Go on Stoke!!!!!

Im with you Harry, lived through all the glory years and through the, mostly, dross of the last 20 odd.
Took my son to our last game in the old top flight so no matter what he would always be able to see he had seen Stoke play there. He was only six and to his credit hes stuck with the lads for twenty three years since.
This weekend will be for him and his mates, for all those like them who stuck two fingers up to Manure, Scousepool and Arsenall and stayed loyal to their own City. For twenty three years of waiting................
FFS Stoke DO IT ...............

Harold.
me too. I started going in 1967 and have been going ever since through the bad and not so bad.
Supporting Stoke has never been a chore and its taken us a long time to get to this stage.
I do hope we do it because my Dad was 40 when he took me for the first time. He'll be 81 in June and Id given up hope of Stoke getting back in my lifetime never mind his.
It would be great to make it. We all have our own reasons but we are all Stokies and thats what matters.
Final push and we've done it.

Harry. I'm also with you there, saw my first game 4-4 draw with burnley in november 1963 as a 10 year old. Grew up watching Stoke through the glory years. Our generation were lucky to see Stoke play and beat the best teams around. Lets hope we can do it . It will be a proud moment and probably mean more to the club and supporters than '79 since we have been away from the big time for so long. With a few inspired signings and a bit of luck we will be able to stay on the 'premiership gravy train' long enough to compete at the top again.

started watching stoke 1964 remember celtic, santos, ajax, us beating chelsea 6 something playing keepball, beating the likes of arsenal man u, chelsea tottenham liverpool, and more players like, clamp, burrows, palmer, skeels, dobing, tueart, hurst, ritchie greenhoff hudson, pejic, marsh, smith, bloor eastham vernon kendall mc ilroy salmolns robertson banks conroy and on and on. we didnt realise how lucky we were, but if we do it, when we do it, savour it,and maybe we could hang onto it,whilst some supporters of other teams dont realise theyve got it.

Can I be in your club as well, Harry? I was 16 when Sir Stan returned and watched the whole of the next 13 years from my regular spot on the Boothen End. My moving from the region (well, out of commuting distance) co-incided with the slump in our fortunes.
Since then, for much of the time, supporting Stoke (apart from the occasional highlight) has been pretty much like living with toothache. If we get promotion in the next few days then it will feel like that tooth has been pulled out! I know life will be tough in the Prem but I will take a lot of pride that we are, finally, back where we were in my youth. Having tough games in the top league somehow feels better than having to admit that we haven't been in the top league for the past third of my life.
So, Stokies everywhere, get behind the manager and the team - promotions to the top league of English football don't happen very often for this club - if it happens this will only be the third time in 45 years - enjoy the moment and be proud to be a Stokie.

"My moving from the region (well, out of commuting distance) co-incided with the slump in our fortunes." So John, it IS all your fault after all...I knew it was! ;D I too started my Stoke watching in the mid '60's (you've got about 8 or 10 years on me I reckon) and managed to get to see Sir Stan's testimonial. Some great times, but more that haven't been, so I'm really hoping that my owm kids now get the chance to see Stoke in the top flight. C'mon you Mighty Potters...do it for the kids! ;D
