If we can get a striker and two inside forwards we're laughing. We just need pace and we'll cause an hell of a lot of teams problems. But this year is all about transition so we've gotta be patient. Pace = Jerome and and Jones and Juan and Shea. We have it already.

A good piece and it's certainly fair to say that we're not quite there yet up front and Liverpool were good for the win. I think you're being a bit kind to the Liverpool defence though cos we created some good chances, I can see them having big problems against better sides.

We need to get rid of both and bring in better, more consistent players.

captainfishpaste, were you one of the posters of readytogo who thought Mignolet was better than Begovic? Cracked me up that did. I think yesterday proved Mignolet doesn't even come close to Begovic. And as the commentator said: "Have liverpool bought the wrong keeper?". A resounding yes. Begovic has to be worth £25-£30 million. Can you really tell from one game? Besides, Mignolet still saved a penalty, kept a clean sheet, and produced a top class save from Walters when it was needed. He's a corking goalie. The fact Begovic is also a corking goalie shouldn't detract from that. So saving a penalty suddenly makes him a good goalkeeper? Thought he looked out of his depth to me. Whether that's nerves or what, I don't know. I also don't think his penalty save was top class. Even I could save a penalty from Walters.

Besides it being against us, I was happy for Mignolet, he deserves his chance and he impressed on his debut. Seems like a nice guy. Still not a patch on our Bego though ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/0m0lbCuTEBzaRn6f8QaM.gif)

We need to get rid of both and bring in better, more consistent players. If Jones played consistently to his potential he'd be awesome. The bloke is beyond frustrating but if LMH can drag him off his fookin hammock he'd solve one of our most pressing problems at a stroke!

They were bang on the money with this... "You sense they need to add some craft and pace coming in from the flanks and some mobility in central midfield to prevent the striker from becoming too isolated whilst also injecting a little tempo into their attacking game."If we're going to play someone up front as we did with Crouch yesterday we need some flair and a player who can turn a defender to race onto any defence-splitting passes we passes we're able to make. We also need at least one midfielder who can get forward and try to unlock opposing defences. Whelan didn;t do that but Adam did. On the evidence of yesterday we were still a little too pedestrian in our forward play and that took away from many of the other encouraging aspects of the performance. This is spot on in my opinion ! We are (and have been for a while ) sluggish , pedestrian in our attacking midfield play , we desperately need a midfielder who can supply quality through balls and an "bubbly in and out " striker in my opinion ! Obviously these aren't easy to find nor cheap !

No, one penalty save doesn't suddenly make him a good goalkeeper but watching him once doesn't suddenly make you an expert on him. I have watched the lad every week for two years. He is an incredible goalkeeper. It really is as simple as that.
