I'm not being funny, but if we start the season with Walters as our main striker we are fucked. We need a Loic Remy type player asap.

Funny isn't it? Out of the list of striker's on our books Walters was the main one everyone wanted rid of. Yet he seems the only one capable of finishing. He doesn't do it in the Prem though because he's way out of his depth. Bias overcomes facts.

I still hate the not celebrating at Your old club shit irrespective! ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/3zptH1h3SvRnVmRGLyMP.gif) I'd say most people want Crouch and/or Jones gone over Walters from what I've read on here anyway. I'd have both Crouch and Jones gone. Crouch is too slow and weak to be a threat, Jones has the touch of a donkey, plays with 2 left fee. At least if you're fighting for the game or holding on to a lead or something you can rely on Jon to give it his all for 20 mins off the bench. 2 of the biggest earners in the club are completely toothless in their role. I agree and I really don't like Walters but if used right he can be an asset. TP used him completely wrong and to rely on such a player was sheer lunacy imo.

He doesn't do it in the Prem though because he's way out of his depth. Yet he finished as our top scorer last season. In fact by my reckoning he has something like 35 Premier League goals. Good call. And how many of those were from open play? Lets not pretend Walters is a prolific goalscorer. Crouch has scored more goals than him, and would of last season if we took away his penalties.

I honestly don't mind Walters, Pulis left him out to dry. You know what you get with him and every team needs a work horse in the squad who can fill a few positions in and most importantly not complain. That said i still think we need 2 forwards and 2 wingers, maybe even a more creative midfielder. In all honesty the squad left to Hughes is not that good and he has a bigger job on his hands than some think imo.

Let's not pretend I haven't answered your original statement that he can't score in the Prem. Also today Walters did in what, 5 minutes, that Crouch couldn't do in 45.

I don't see how anybody can deny that he's been the most consistent attacking presence in the squad for a couple of years now.

At the moment SJW is vital to us, whatever way you cut it.

I don't mind him if he's used sparingly and correctly but that didn't happen under TP. As third/fourth choice striker and if needed due to 4 injuries on the wing then he's being used right. Week in, week out in the Premier League though? Not for me.

wonderful goal-line clearance by Hunt to deny Walters, who drew Mayebi and chipped him after beating the offside trap from Huth's pass.

To be fair, he's spent a lot of time on the wing and even more in the dreaded 'withdrawn striker' role, which comes with a shed load of defensive duties. I quite like Walters, he shouldn't be starting, but he's not the no-hoper some mark him as. Suffers for his association with Pulis.

Read somewhere last season he'd eclipsed our previous scorer and was Stoke's PL top scorer record. Might've been a mistake. Regardless, I standby my point that he can, does and will still do it in the Prem.
