Fuck me lighten up The kid has a sense of humour, should fit in well here. Are some of you THAT desperate!?!?!?!?! :-) Seems a talent, if he does cut it here will be a fantastic signing, its not like we can afford to spend billions on established 20 year old superstars, we will have to find our own unpolished nuggets - who knows maybe one day somebody will offer £10-£15 million for one of OUR young players. Seemed to me to just be an attempt to gain more followers. vis unita fortior

If any young player was really that good they wouldn't be coming to Stoke. We may have improved our scouting network but we don't even come close to the bigger clubs. Why cant young/ promising players go to smaller clubs? Just look at Benteke, for example.

Half joke, half making a nice little sum on marketing I'd wager! That was my first thought as well, Bayern. I don't know how many followers the lad has, but they have all had the name of a particular insurer planted in their brain. It wouldn't influence me to chance my insurer but there will be plenty who will take note - and you can bet that he isn't the only US player signed up to plug products on twitter, facebook and every other forum on the planet.

Thank god he wasn't plugging Wonga - he'd be a dead cert for Newcastle if he was.

Bego does it or well he used to, it makes sense for companies to pay them to make a tweet like it. Agudelo has 30 thousand+ followers so You've reached a decent market already.

The Geico joke has nothing to do with marketing or advertising for the company. It's a running joke in the states as the Geico commercials are all over tv.
His tweeting that really is not related to sponsorships in any way.

They'll still love him for it! And I aren't sure it was just a joke because it was done in third person like his agent or someone was just doing it, like most advertising tweets from "celebs" are.

To be fair, I would be tempted to tweet something like that if I were being sent 100 tweets a minute asking if I am being transferred.

What a strange system. Does American Football and Baseball operate in that way? Thanks for the insight. As single entity? No. Any trades or player signings within the rules and salary structure in the NBA, NFL or MLB go through without any input from the league office. The franchises are completely separate from one another. MLS has a system I've never seen before where it's basically one front office working for the entire league. They do it to protect the league since it's so young, only 17 years old and to prevent owners from going crazy with spending whcih was the downfall of the NASL(remember Maradona with the Cosmos?) and because MLS wants parity across the board. I think it helps stabalize the league but at the same time prevents the bigger clubs like the Galaxy and NY from being better than they are. MLS single entity is also a way around violating anti-trust laws for negotiating TV contracts (among other activities). MLB, NFL, NBA and NHL are all operating with certain anti-trust exemptions that were granted back in the 60s. As for Agudelo, I think he has potential but isn't he sort of small? My impression is that he isn't really strong on the ball. But maybe I'm wrong.

At 1 40 he looks pretty strong on the ball. Must say the more I see of him the more excited I get, think we could finally have a player to get us up off our seats.

Unreliable twitter link to Valencia. Can't work out what this twitter feed is from - just a fans site or some local channel? TwitterWe get the information that Salvo has spoken and made ??contact with Juan Agudelo (Revolution) and his representatives.

If we're genuinely interested we should be able to tip the balance with the American lads that are already here

If we're genuinely interested we should be able to tip the balance with the American lads that are already here We can beat Valencia for money too. But if I was given the choice of Stoke or Valencia on a similar wage and squad footing there's only one winner...........Valencia.
