Nzonzi was the best player on the pitch by a country mile.

Defense and central midfield we are more than ok in my opinion.
I still think we need 2 wingers, Pennant has done nothing for a long time and Etherington has lost it. Neither of these have any pace either. Also we have seen nothing of Shea so still an unknown.
I'd also sell off both Crouch and Jones if possible and replace them. Crouch brings very little to the team, no pace, no strength, we need more than someone holding it up and passing it backwards. Also Jones generally has the touch and shot of a donkey. I'd keep Walters as backup to run around when needed and Jerome for last 20 mins or so when his raw pace can upset weary defences.
4 new faces in those positions and we will be fine, i also think we will get stronger as the season progresses.
I'd also like a right back but can't see that being a priority.

Wasn't impressed with Adam, didn't really get into it.
Whelan was very good.
Palacios is improving but will have to be quicker on the ball.
Shawcross was immense, Huth looks a bit less comfortable at times.
Crouch needs to go.

Nzonzi was the best player on the pitch by a country mile. He's a metronome, just sits and passes, passes and passes some more. Gives a great base for an attack, we just need a bit more quality to allow his talent to come to the fore.

Best part of the game for me was the women firing tee shirts into the crowd at half time.........
Come on Stoke bring it on, get some classy Longton type birds in hot pants walking around the pitch throwing tee shirts.

Only saw the second half. We were trying to play it out from the back and keep possession but as soon as we got it in the opponents half we lost possession again. The possession we had didn't translate into chances. Also the defence looked very vulnerable to people running at them with the ball. In that half I would say they made twice as many chances as we did. I agree the forward line doesn't fit with how are trying to play. For what it's worth in the second half the FCD coach put many of the younger guys who never get to play out there. Which was kind of fun for FCD fans because he never puts the youngsters in and it was good to see some of what their potential might be. I'm sure it was kind of cool for the players as well. The point being I think those substitutions probably picked up the intensity a bit.
