I wouldn't go as far as saying I hate Mumford & Sons. Hating takes some effort and they are too bland to be worthy of any.
M&S (how apt) seem to be music that most folk agree on. But who the fuck wants that? Chuck in other industry luvvie favourite, Laura Marling and you have the new boring. Pretentious, supposedly poignant but instead soulless and emotionless. Yes it's not X-Factor shite, yes there is some playing on it (Laura Marling is "up there" with Katie Melua in terms of guitar prowess) but it's as cynically crafted and marketed as the "X Factor". Radio 2, to Jools Holland, to next big thing, to Mercury Music to Glastonbury main stage.
It is the musical equivalent of flock wallpaper.... Music for Wimbledon crowds.

There hasn't been any danger in rock n roll since Nirvana or maybe the Manic Street Preachers. Everything is nice and sensible ' let's turn up a little bit more distortion and we can be a rock band '. It's all very safe. Some of the names being banded around for next years headliners back this up. Everything is too much effort when you can pretend on a computer. Football & music in this country used to be great, now it's fat, slow and disinterested like the majority of the population.

Music for Wimbledon crowds. it takes all sorts though mumford and sons have by their own admission played glasto 5 times each time getting a bigger slot and stage starting with 200 people on one of the shit stages, as they have gained popularity hence they get to play bigger arenas, same as any other act - will they last 30 years, i doubt it but only the biggest acts have managed to do that over a long period of time with success. for each genre and time of music only the best acts from each have survived regardless of wether you like them or not they are just as talented as any other group out there that play their own music and write their own songs - maiden, stones, oasis, genesis, duran duran etc etc or any other group over history that writes songs and play music the only real debate is wether you like them or not. and it is ok to have a music collection that goes from pop to hard rock, to rap to folk, from classical to dance to everything inbetween enjoying the merits and sound of each. as artists get bigger and more widely known they attract just as many haters as they do fans

Enjoyed both the Stones and Mumford & Sons. Very different but a good end to the festival I have a very broad taste in music though - I saw bands/artists ranging from the Smashing Pumpkins and Vaccines to and to Chic and Dizzee Rascal. All about the atmosphere for me, if the crowd are into it then any genre can be good ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/KYqg3pYeaerc5lD_P7BR.gif)
