Seems the right time to finally put our Tony Waddington tribute up on our archive page. Mr Stoke City

What did he do after leaving us? Did he manage again or was that it for football? Did he ever come along (in later years) to watch us again?

Fantastic read! What a man. That was printed in the oatcake issue for the wolves game wasn't it dave? Still got a sour taste from that minute's silence

Waddo went back to Crewe where he spent most of his playing career. He managed them for a couple of seasons 79-81. He was appointed as a director at Stoke in early 90s where he stayed until he died in 94. Great man and manager. His achievements will never be surpassed IMO.

Excellent read - I'll never, ever forget the incredible excitement in the Victoria Ground - on the debuts of Banks and Hudson.
