Good interview ruined by continuing the myth that those who were anti Hughes were the ones who were pro Pulis.

The more militant anti Hughes folk do seem to be the more militant pro Pulis people. But there a lot of anti Hughes folk who wanted TP sacked too.

Good interview ruined by continuing the myth that those who were anti Hughes were the ones who were pro Pulis. How do you know its a myth?? By reading this board and speaking to people. The most vicious anti Hughes sentiment I detected was from people who wanted us to insanely change tack and employ a Martinez.

I'm with you Momo
There were few rimmers on here left in any case and most PHWs that I know on the outside world are as indifferent and as underwhelmed as us.
I think it's more to do with him being an arrogant, boring twat more than anything else.

I don't see a link between the Pulis and Hughes people. I didn't engage with the whole PHW v Rimmer debate at all, but couldn't help but get involved recently because my reservations about Hughes were so strong. It's all based on Hughes and his track record post Blackburn for me. I really don't see what he's achieved since Blackburn. The top 10 argument looks as flimsy as the whole 'We're 10th FFS' argument under Pulis because of what Hughes spent at Man City, inherited at Fulham and the short period of time he's stayed at clubs. Oh, and Mark Bowen has made me cringe in his 6 month role as co-commentator on Radio 5 . Completely detached from Pulis. I'm completely open and want to be proved wrong. It's not an entrenched view based on the previous manager.

Pro Pulis, Is it OK if I can be Pro Hughes? apparently not....you must bleat, rant, rave, whinge, moan and decry everything Hughes does, says or even when he farts in his sleep...that's how it works rimmerboy p.s. that's a joke before i get lynched

I don't like smudge representing my football club. I personally find him boring. His newspaper articles also don't represent the supporters of SCFC!

I don't like smudge representing my football club. I personally find him boring. His newspaper articles also don't represent the supporters of SCFC! In that case maybe you should start and run your own fanzine successfully for many years, write for the papers and get interviewed all the time. Then we could all see how much of your tiny brain is representative of the supporters.

My tiny brain does not come in to the fact that I find his opinion boring! As for the fanzine I'm not interested in it either! I do quite like Proboards though to be fair! Thanks for your opinion!

I was pro Pulis but finished up anti Pulis. I have always been anti Hughes. From the days of his management with Manchester City.

How do you know its a myth?? By reading this board and speaking to people. The most vicious anti Hughes sentiment I detected was from people who wanted us to insanely change tack and employ a Martinez. know it hasn't happened a lot recently momo but i agree with you here!! the people you refer to are what can sometimes be called "Idiots"........i never ever saw Martinez or Benitez as realistic to be honest, not due to their reputation or because we were "Too small" but simply due to the fact that if we were ever to get either of them in we'd have needed to sell half the squad and buy about another 12-15 players who could actually play their kind of football.if anyone genuinely believed we were suddenly going to see Whelan and Whitehead playing it around in nice little triangles while Shotts and Wilson bombed on up to the byeline overlapping their wingers then they really were deluded! Hughes is a safe compromise of being able to play some football AND keep a solid spine to the team, in theory we could evolve to play actual football and use our usual approach as merely a Plan B to fall back on if we ever need to scrap out a victory in an ugly game.here's hoping

Pugs
I was indifferent and underwhelmed when Pulis was appointed the first time.
Difference was I knew little about TP.
I'm mainly indifferent and underwhelmed because of his ropey record rather than because he's an ex shit player and boring bastard.

The 'inherited a good team' argument infuriates me. How many managers do that and totally fuck things up?

I was in a very select band that didn't want Pulis gone but now I'm well up for the next chapter. That's football. The implication that the only thing there is to dislike about Hughes is that he isn't Pulis is laughable. Why not drag up a thread or two from one our games against Fulham a couple of years ago or even against QPR. The board was pretty unanimous that Hughes was a total cunt. Things change and now he's our cunt manager. What's not to like?

Ropey recent record granted. Pulis came with a ropey record. Hughes is a decent PL manager who given the right backing should do a decent job.
Boring bastard - aren't they all?

I supported TP until his last few weeks at SCFC.
I have disliked LMH with a passion at his other clubs.
However, LMH is now our manager and I will support him to the extent I supported TP whilst such a position is tenable.
