True Rob, think we'll have a more rounded team... might take a couple of transfer windows to balance itself out though. Means the first few months could be interesting... But in the big scheme of things I don't see him being here for a long time, hence not too sure he can 'build' the club or massively change the direction. But we'll see... I don't either Ed, but is that such a bad thing? I suspect this is a stopgap appointment to steady the ship and ease the transition - if all goes to plan (it's another one year rolling deal supposedly) Hughes can rehabilitate his reputation, we can get through a transitional season, THEN we go for the 'young and vibrant' option and the long-term plan. 3 year contract, be in no doubt this is a pure contractual arrangement and expensive to terminate

Bet you weren't such a CBHW at Maine Road!!! "Chic Bates. You will take us up!!" We talk about that game and that chant quite often when reminiscing about Stoke City. I was never a CBHW because deep down, I never really believed that the fault of our shitness was down to him. The finger of blame, in those days, definitely needed pointing in a different direction. Yeh, my mates do to, I'd not long since moved to manchester for Uni. Terrifying walk back to town that was, got hit on the back of the head by a full can of ale, what a waste.
