I wished for my team to score a few goals and be more positive in games.
I reckon there's a good chance I've got it.

Hughes will play much better football than Pulis and will also buy the odd flair player I'm sure. Give him time to put his stamp on the team.
I think Sparky will have a few people eating their words when he's up & running

I wished for a Manager that would go into a football match and make an attempt to win that football match. A manager that would at least try to entertain me as a paying fan of 30 years.
Nobody knows yet if that is what we are getting. Time will tell

At the very least we'll see things like 'full backs' and 'midfielders'.

Whether people agree with him or not we are all stoke fans and should give our full backing and see where it takes us.
Up the potters!

I wished for somebody better than Pulis. On paper Hughes ticks that box. Now it's down to him to go and prove that's case.

At the very least we'll see things like 'full backs' and 'midfielders'. True Rob, think we'll have a more rounded team... might take a couple of transfer windows to balance itself out though. Means the first few months could be interesting... But in the big scheme of things I don't see him being here for a long time, hence not too sure he can 'build' the club or massively change the direction. But we'll see...

I don't either Ed, but is that such a bad thing? I suspect this is a stopgap appointment to steady the ship and ease the transition - if all goes to plan (it's another one year rolling deal supposedly) Hughes can rehabilitate his reputation, we can get through a transitional season, THEN we go for the 'young and vibrant' option and the long-term plan.

As far as I can see we have got what we wished for.
The capped idiot out - and we now can look forwards to some "proper" football - not the football that Pulis claimed to be football.

Anyone would think we had appointed Chic Bates.
Thank fuck the internet wasn't so popular back in 1997. There would have been mass suicide on here.

Lets give him a chance. He has made some good signings in the past for smallish fees and from what I can see he at least plays players in their correct positions and uses proper fullbacks.

I was very pro pulis but if MH is to be Manager then he has my full support. No reason not to. Seeing is believing and if we think we as supporters are as good as we have been made out to be over the last 5 years then we need to up our game too

"But the same goes for whoever was/is appointed." True. Hughes was not my first choice, he doesn't fill me with excitement, yet I can see why the Board have gone for him, and I believe he should be an improvement. Pulis had to go for me, just so I could look forward to going to matches. Like I say, no real excitement about it at the moment, more relief, but at least I am looking forward to going to watch Stoke. I hope Hughes proves to be a decent replacement, he has a reputation to repair, and hopefully that means progress and success for Stoke.

The same media who have set out to make us this generations scummy horrid thuggy club. Trying their very best to wipe the club we all love through the mud. Having us to go down every year, never having anything good to say about us. Using every single thing we do a method to attack the club, most recently the pig head business. Fuck what the media say!

"Chic Bates. You will take us up!!" We talk about that game and that chant quite often when reminiscing about Stoke City. I was never a CBHW because deep down, I never really believed that the fault of our shitness was down to him. The finger of blame, in those days, definitely needed pointing in a different direction.

The only thing to be excited about is the unknown. Individual Stoke fans either like the bloke or they don't - personally, I'm quite warming to the idea of him now that it's happening. What is disappointing though is that PHWs can't help running around talking bollocks but how bad it has been under Pulis and utter stupid comments that we didn't have full backs and midfielders. Yep, you RVD
