How many of you given the managerial candidates on offer would have prefered Pulis to stay?

How many of you given the managerial candidates on offer would have prefered Pulis to stay? With the likes of O'Neill, Hughes and Martinez in the running we'll either be making a sideways step or a step backwards. Sacking Pulis looks slightly awkward now that we've seen who the possible candidates are!

No
The time was right for Pulis to go.

No The time was right for Pulis to go. Definitely. There aren't any shocks about the managerial field open to us. The board knew full well who would be in the mix on Tuesday. And we've still got the same runners and riders.

And why should we? Pulis had gone well past his sell by date and it was time for a change.

I think that if you sack the second most successful manager in Stoke's history because you want the club to go in a different direction, you should have a clear view on his replacement.
Poyet, Martinez and Di Matteo are almost the complete opposite of Hughes and O'Neill. If these managers are all in the running, how can that make sense?

It's a tragedy TP was as good as given the boot though I guess in my opinion he walked because he just doesn't see their future plans working out. He's a pretty clever man is TP and I find it worrying that he chose not to buy into the clubs vision. Time will tell though as they say.

I,d have Nerys Hughss ( never mind Mark Hughes ) instead of Pulis
Let's cut to the chase here..... he was taking us south at a rapid rate and needed dispensing with
That's my last comment on him on this MB
Thank fuck he has gone

I couldn't stand Pulis and wanted him gone.
Of all the people that have been linked with the job, only the appointment of Martin O'Neil would leave me saying "we might as well have stuck with Tony Pulis".
Martin O'Neil is a rich mans Tony Pulis. He spends absolute fortunes on tried and trusted (ageing) British players who generally have very little, if any, resale value and his teams usually like to roll over and have their bellies tickled by the better teams.
Is that honest enough for you?

He didn't walk,he was pushed through the door as he was taking us one way and one way only. It had nothing to do with him not buying into the clubs vision,it had everything to do with him not being able to deliver what the club wants. If you are just on a fishing mission then well done you have caught me hook line and sinker! If not then I seriously worry about your mental state.

I've not seen any managerial candidate mentioned seriously that would make me want Pulis back.
He hasn't been gone a week yet in any case, and no appointment has been made. Why would anyone who wanted Pulis out now want him back?

I said a few months ago I would not want Pulis out because I was well aware of the various alternatives (or lack of them). At the time I was accused of 'having an agenda' or being 'delusional' or something like that.
Our form since January persuaded me it was time for change. I think West Ham might have been the tipping point for me.
If there are people who were wanting Pulis out - and there were many who never wanted him in in the first place - who now realize the alternatives aren't much better then I am sorry but that is their own fault for being so simple. I could have told you who the alternatives were months ago!

I want him back and I'm sure it is not too late for PC to have a change of heart. Disillusion is growing as even some of the people who wanted TP gone see that there is no ready made replacement or preferred candidate. Meanwhile, the silent majority are regretting their silence and expressing their anger at what has happened to a great manager and a great man - who has behaved with the utmost dignity.

To be honest I find it hard to believe that a new manager can't do the same job as Pulis points wise or position in the league wise, without boring the arse off most of our fans in the process.

Rubbish, the board allowed him to maintain his dignity by taking decisive action before things turned sour...

I would probably agree with that. That is why I am so surprised that so many on here are convinced that this or that particular manager is going to be a disaster. We all have to wait and see.

It's not a shock to anyone though, is it?
Coatesy wasn't on a quiz show where the alternatives were hiding behind a curtain, while he had 30 seconds to decide whether to axe or not to axe.
The names under consideration now are the ones we've all been discussing on here for the last 5 months.
They've made the call in full knowledge about who is a viable contender.
Nothing has changed since Tuesday.

When you consider that every season 17 managers keep their clubs in the Premiership and of the 3 that don't at least 1 will almost certainly have been a newly promoted team it shouldn't be that difficult to choose a manager who can do at least as well as Pulis

Seems to me that the only people who see a disaster looming are the staunch Pulis followers. In my opinion,if we had kept Pulis in charge we were heading down,so I don't see any reasons why we should have kept Pulis in charge regardless of how good some people might not think the candidates to take over are. There were loads of reasons, all valid,as to why we should get rid of Pulis, and if we get his replacement right this club can go and move in the right direction again.
