...and lots of punters were plashing cash on an outcome that you had an influence over, would you make your decision public ? surely it would be more beneficial to delay an announcement.

To be honest this has twisted my head... Bet365 aren't offering a market on the new manager nonsense, {Gambling laws and so forth}... but they must have given third parties, e.g. Pennant, a few quid to, what's it called?... Lay it... or lay it off, or whatnot.

This whole' betting on everything that happens' world that we inhabit gets murkier by the day. When bookies stop taking bets as they did with Moyes it's clear that there's multiple strata s of dodginess afoot.

For Bet365 to take bets on the next Stoke manager would be comparable to taking bets on a horse race where they had doped one or more of the horses! In both cases they would be taking bets on an event where they could influence the outcome - and that is illegal.

I'm getting bored with all this TBH. There's nothing we can do and there's no point worrying about it. I think I shall re-join the discussions once we actually have a manager to talk about.

Interestingly here inAustralia we are currently going through a betting scandal where it was the Mother of the main bookie who was doping the horses(albeit with legal drugs).

i don't do betting but i'm certain if i knew 100% who the new gaffer was going to be with inside info and went round 50 bookies putting on bets that ranged from 50 quid to a grand none of them the same amount to arouse suspicion,i'd make a huge sum of money enough to drown my sorrows if the next manager was a total turkey.
