QPR was a cataclysmic, monumental f*** up though, it has to be said.
But you can't gloss over his early work.
And while he's no Martinez/Zola/Poyet fancy Latin pass master, his teams do score more than Pulis teams.
Mind you, that would be true of anyone!

Benitez or Martinez would have got me genuinely excited about the next season; Hughes would just get me worried. We'd need a bloody good start to get me on board.

I don't get the sheer hatred for Hughes at all. He's a cunt, I get that, I've been banging that drum since his Blackburn days. But he seems a half decent manager. Where does the hatred come from? Part of it may be when he refused to shake TP's hand and had a hissy fit, remember the uproar about it on here. He had a girly hissy fit with Jol, Wenger and Mancini as well as Pulis. Makes him look a bit of a plonker really. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/kwfoKwtHI0jglJZ4qZf6.gif)

If we take Hughes then imo we may as well stuck with Pulis. My understanding is that Pulis was let go so we could move in a new direction. For me Hughes is a similar direction as Pulis. I agree now that TP as gone what would be the point of hiring a manager who record is no better, also he would walk if as soon as he was offered more money a another club. The one thing TP has given us is stability,i hope I am wrong but I think this will be a period of a lot of managers in a short time.

I'll cry if I wake up to Hughes as new Stoke manager. I really will.

The most overrated manager there is.If it his Hughes surely its a case of like for like.I'd give it Holloway tbh if Palace fail to get promoted as he knows how to get the best out of Charlie and the Prem needs him and Mourinho up against each other next season.......the press conferences would be funny as!

Just to clarify I haven't missed anything, where is all this momentum on Hughes coming from? I've seen one first time poster say that it's Hughes and a tumbling off odds at the bookies. But is there anything actually substantial backing up Hughes? A national newspaper is running its back page saying we've given Martinez an offer and he's got 2 days to decide and there's barely a whisper about it on here. Where is this Hughes momentum stemmed from???

fuck no! Not him. I'll take Pulis over this twat. Maybe O'Neill fancies the Stoke job. There was talk of it less than a month ago. Or maybe he will go to Leicester instead.

God knows where he got it from, went straight on oddschecker and he's gone fave in some bookies. Hope it's just speculation and my mate has put 2+2 together and come up with 864,635,426.35

Strange there's been no tumble in Martinez odds and no other reports of interest. I think I might go to bed!

"An unglamorous, but fairly safe, option. Would his style be too similar to that of the outgoing Pulis?"

Strange there's been no tumble in Martinez odds and no other reports of interest. I think I might go to bed! Yep I haven't been this busy on here since transfer deadline day! A poster called chorltonpotter also stated earlier in that thread that we were going balls deep for Rafa and Martinez with hughesbas back up plan c. Now we can safely rule Rafa out but Martinez? There are only 2 suitable vacancies for him if he wants to come back to the prem. us and Everton. Now if Everton really wanted him why haven't they made the move already? If we genuinely are prepared to go all in for him then I think he's ours. How true the information from chorlton is I don't know but it sounds plausible to me.

We will easily stay in the league with Hughes as Manager.
He will also find good players from abroad, something that Pulis refuses to do.
And the cage will cease to exist allowing NZonzi more freedom, bring it on.
