Ken South was the 3rd choice keeper at the end of the 60s / early 70s (behind Banks and Farmer) As both used to miss the odd game due to injury he played a number of games for the reserves in the same team as Terry Lees, George Jackson, Terry Smith, John Ruggerio, Ian Moores & Stewart Jump. I think the nearest he ever got to the 1st Team was an unused sub in the Texaco Cup. Goes and hangs up anorak!

Adrian Hurst at Stoke kindly gave us the names of the following (from left to right) Ken South (sorry but I have no idea), goalkeeper Mike McDonald, Don Whiston, who played for the club in the 1950's and Mike Allen who was our physiotherapist in the 1970s. I remember Mike Allen but never in a million years would I have guessed him from that photo!

I can't claim credit for the Texaco Cup bit. I was looking at this thread earlier today, seemed to recall seeing him play for the reserves not long after the sad death of Paul Shardlow, and there he was in the first programme I picked up (a home game against Spurs on 30/10/1971) and the team for the Texaco Cup game against Derby was printed in there. Having checked a programme from later in the season it appears he was also the substitute keeper for the home leg against Derby in the Texaco Cup.

I only know who Ken South is as he lives around the corner from my parents in Alsager and his son was in my year at school.
Apparently he was a reserve goalie but never made a first team appearance and that's all I can help you with!
