I've been thinking about the "choir" in block 19 - the pay on the day block. It seems a pity that the serious singers amongst our fans can't benefit from Season Tickets to reduce the cost of their match day "fix".
The Problem
The singers like to go in block 19 because it is a cash on the day block. This means they can sit where they like and they naturally sit with their mates once they get in so they can make more sound being grouped together. The downside is that they pay full match day prices for their seats rather than less than half that amount (for next season) for those in the Boothen who get a season ticket before April 15th.
The solution
Why not have a special block (it could be block 19 or it could be the Boothen/Sentinel corner). Season Tickets could be purchased for this block but the seating FOR THE WHOLE BLOCK would be unreserved so, once inside, fans could sit where they liked. Obviously it would be up to the club to make sure only the correct number of tickets were ever issued. If it didn't fill up with ST holders then it could still be pay on the day for anyone who wished to go to the odd game.
Its probably too late to organise an unreserved block this year but its not too early to start thinking about it for next year. It would halve the cost for a fan who went to every match - probably result in a packed block - making a "wall of sound" which would be heard all over the stadium. It is also something to think about if/when the corner between the Boothen and the John Smiths is filled in.
What do people think?

Having sat in The John Smiths Stand on Tuesday (Yes me in there, horrific!) 19 was the only visable block singing.
19ers should be persuaded for one game to buy their tickets anywhere in the Boothen other than 19, and you could almost gaurantee the atmos would lift a little.

I'm not so sure that would happen, Martin. Its a lot easier to sing through the whole match if you are surrounded by people of like mind - as I remember from my youth! That's one of the reasons why I'd like to see the singing block in a corner. The urge to sing might spread to the blocks either side and the corner contains the sound and boosts the volume. ;D

Haj, I am not happy about SOME of the songs either. However, if the choir could see that the club was going some considerable way to accomodate them they might be more prepared to stick by the ground rules.
The other point is that if we ever get to the Prem, the corners will be filled in at some point so they will find themselves surrounded where ever they sit. ;D
