Not sure Stoke "took" the North Bank, not that I was there & if the poster says so then I can't question him. My uncle does'nt recall it though he remembers most such events, and he does say Stoke tried to take the George around those days, which was not a wise thing to try. Man Utd were the only team to be in the North Bank and stay in there, they had a quarter of the North bank for most of the game.
I remember Manure being in the Boothen but think that was the 1970's, sheer numbers. I was there at that game. Can't remember hardly many teams going in the Boothen though.
Stoke have always been one of the toughest no doubt, i know that from years of going to and receiving visits from you barmy fuckers.

Wolves probably the most consistent along with Brum to come to ours in numbers over the years, think we always repaid the compliment.

I was at the Wolves game aged 16 and remember 'Taking' the North Bank, at least 'till the team came out and as hanibal says we were all thrown out. I remember being in the Boothen and Everton had been given half the stand for some reason with coppers dividing the two sets of fans. The whole game was spent watching each other as bottles were raining to and fro all through the game. Also one other unpleasant notable was when Leeds fans were up the Boothen and the Stokies ejected them causing a massive crush. It was an awful sight to see fans lying on the floor behind the stand blue in the face from the crush. Fortunately as far as i know no one was severely hurt though it was a close thing. Nice to hear Ziggers name again he was the focal point for the singing and chanting, just one more can anyone remember being on the buses that had their windows smashed at Elland Road around '68 not a pleasant trip home that on bloody freezing. Happy days indeed. A nasty day if my memory serves me right, bloody freezing,a few of them in my time lol.Remember knicking scarves off fans, and attaching them to your wrist or lapel of the bus jackets lol.I had a man city and leeds one,so i was well arrrrrrrrrrd hehehehe The Wolves game was my first away game. I was too young (I'd have been about 10) to be involved in any hanky panky. I sat in the stand with my Uncle proudly wearing my red and white scarf. Was told to "Fuck Off" in a yam yam accent quite a few times that day! One thing I do remember is that it was really foggy, you couldn't see the goal at the South Bank so we missed Stoke's 4th goal.

Oh you certainly have - ten times more for example than Blues, Villa or WBA. These days anyone can tho. It makes no sense in Wolvo. Unless you want a guaranteed 6 month stretch. Actually I enjoy chatting to away fans more these days anyway, getting old! I could tell you about the graveyard at Stoke, quite an appropriate place to meet the rampant Stokies - one year I remember we got murdered there. Well scary.

Just to put the record straight 'Taking' the North Bank was intended to be somewhat tongue in cheek 'cause as hanibal rightly says we only 'Held' it 'till there fans arrived en mass and we were quite grateful to be escorted by the local bobbies, it was fun though, and regarding trophies i nicked an Everton bob hat from a guy right next to me in the Boothen. Great atmosphere then but it really is much better that fans can now travel and mingle with the opposition at most grounds.

The memories of those days in the late 70s through to round 1998 were great but following another visit to the court after that Man City game i decided enough was enough although Portsmouth away in 2002 was a last hurrah. I just enjoy the banter now

The memories of those days in the late 70s through to round 1998 were great but following another visit to the court after that Man City game i decided enough was enough although Portsmouth away in 2002 was a last hurrah. I just enjoy the banter now I left home in 96 in an attempt to cleanse myself of the demons of being involved with the Lads and that Casual Culture only to succumbe to the addiction once again in 2002 and travelled to Pompey that day.....i'm eleven years clean now. Travelled to Split and Kiev where it was small numbers of mostly old faces from the nod and a wink era and found myself pinned with the adrenalin rush of being in a volatile situation beyond my control again and having to survive whilst being on the back foot type of scenario and enjoyed the buzz of going and getting back home again without being injured, although i was with the group that had to barricade themselves in their hotel two nights before the game in Split...very edgey but enjoyed it. Went to Valencia and saw thousands of painted faces sequined hats clown wigs and shirters pissing on statues and wished i'd stayed at home. Even more galling to see was the untold amount of men in their thirties and forties wearing casual clothes and strutting about claiming to be N40 and i didn't know one of them..where the hell did they come from? Just glad i followed Stoke in the era i did...priceless memories on and off the pitch!!
