Charlie Adam found his correct position. Nzonzi as B,burn fans said is a good players but goes missing and is sulky. Jerome is the thickest player i have ever known. Whenever we have more than 3 players with W starting their surname then we are ineppt at controlling a football or passing it. The 3-4-1-2 formation 1st half was interesting and encouraged us to play a passing game. Will we see it gain ? i hope so.
Pulis has lost both the crowd and players when people like Whelan start playing up.

This is my biggest frustration from last night I feel, I was really encouraged by the first half performance and though we played some decent passing football in the final 3rd but after the little collapse in the 2nd half I fear pulls will go no where near that formation again through fear that its too open.

Whelan, Walters and Whitehead are not PL players. And the team seems totally shambolic.

I thought we were doing great until he decided to sub both Adam & N'zonzi. I'm finding Mr. Pulis's decisions harder and harder to understand. Both teams came out in the second half with different attitudes, Stoke seemed to be sitting back and Wigan were hungry for either a draw or a victory, and if the game had gone on for much longer I think they would have got it too. Once the midfield had been disassembled the rest of the team looked clueless.
Could Pulis's job be too safe?

Although the formation caught Martinez by surprise and gave us an advantage we were generally rubbish in the first half as well. We only scored because Wigan completely ballsed up a regulation clearance. There was never any other threat at goal.
2nd half Wigan passed into our channels, the defence was pulled everywhere and runners from midfield swamped us.
If teams prepare their tactics expecting three at the back we'll be cut to ribbons.

Stoke70, spot on. The three of them were less than useless last night!

I only saw some of the first half and pretty well all of the second. I can't believe how inept we were at even simple passes. At one stage crouch couldn't find etherington with a pass and the ball went out ....from around 4 meters away. We struggled to put more than two passes together and our tactics have regressed to just pump it long and hoPe someone gets on the end of it. Most of the players didn't look too concerned either....they would have probably preferred to just turn around and say shut the fuck up to the track suited guy in the baseball cap. Time to bring back peter Reid ? We seemed to play ok when he was here.

We have played that formation twice this season against Wigan, Charlie Adam looked the best player in both games. We scored 4 and Conceded 4 using this formation.

That Adam should be sold, not good enough, does absolutely nothing off the ball.
Pulis still loves to try to cancel games out.

That when N'zonzi was rightly taken off (he was poor and should have been putting in a major shift to support Huth who had his head split open - but clearly could not give a shit)....but the best we could replace him with was Wilko.
We have learned that after 5 years in the prem .... we bring on Wilko to make an impact....and that is not good enough.

We have learned that after 5 years in the prem .... we bring on Wilko to make an impact....and that is not good enough. i disagree. you don't notice nzonzi (and he seems out of the game) because the work he does is so seamless. he is the only player who controls the ball, turns and gives a simple pass. he is also the only one who actually always offers for the ball, which is why, when he went off, we couldn't retain the ball and kept giving it away. imo nzonzi is absolutely vital to our team. he just helps to relieve pressure so well. we actually keep the ball a bit with him playing.

We learnt that we've got thirty points and that's ten more than Wigan. So Pulis can't be doing too bad a job. who would you rather have - Martinez? And boskampsflaps are you mad? Adam had the game of his life last night. He must have. He got taken off!

I agree he is vital to our team...I agree he is the only player that puts his foot on the ball and brings players in...however last night he had a poor game and didnt do any of that stuff, and too often Shawcross/huth had to step in to cover his idle arse! The problem was not that NZonzi went off....it was who Tony replaced him with....crackers
