We will never move on with these fullbacks. They are awful, awful ,awful probably league 1 level honestly. They dont join in at all,no team will ever create moves without fullbacks its paramount in the premier league. Nzonzi received the ball so many times and looked wide and nothing offering taht would not miscontrol the abll or give it away.SHOCKING FULLBACKS PINCHING A LIVING 3 levels before their station if they werent Stokies. ![:'(](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/aV1vRBg_y2NLG9ubeFHN.gif)

Wilko is a tackler / battler, but not a footballer; Shotts had a good game today; both local lads. N'Zonzi does make a lot of suicide balls to them - if he 's that good, make passes to the forwards / wingers

Thought Shotts played OK tbh
Our lack of decent wingers also a problem - cant beat a man.
Agree though, if playing in the style we are we need decent fullbacks and wingers with ambition to get forward and deliver crosses to Crouch/Jones etc who look shit without service.

They ain't full backs, but both work hard and try. Huth looked awful at right back. We play to many players out of position which makes them look poor.

And ditto our wingers. Out of interest, does anyone know when we last bought a specialist full back? And I don't mean converted centre halves or midfield players, who happened to now play at full back.

As it happens I don't have a problem with Wilkinson at right back (although he's not a 'push on' player), it's the lack of a proper left back that's the concern. However, we looked far more shaky at the back when Wilkinson went off and it's no surprise that we got done from our left hand side for the goal (and Shotton was on his arse).

Wilsons a decent RB when he comes Back and GCam can hold his own but LB is a massive problem.

Your opinion dude, thats fine.
He was under a lot of pressure all game, Kightly in front of him was gash, offered no protection, kept giving the ball away - Shotts offered more in attack and defence than him.
There were plenty on the pitch more worthy of criticism than Ryan, but I guess he is an easy target.

Good on you for sticking up for him. I don't see any as an easy target as I hate to see ANY of them under perform. Personally thought his decision making was poor today but you are right; Kightly was equally at fault. Poor game from him too that probably amplified Shotts performance.

Shotton was awful. He gave the ball away by hitting Man City players with it so many times, and his throw-ins almost always went to a Man City player. He tries hard but has no Premier League quality.

Woeful yes but I feel sorry for anybody playing behind Kightly, he is a total liability and needs to be dropped/sold/banished immediately.

Don't agree that he is an easy target more of an obvious one really, not his fault but he is not good enough at this level by a country mile, Pulis is doing the lad no favours picking him in important games farm him out to a Div 1 club see if he can hack it at that level then reassess his potential.

Wilko put the best cross of the day into the box!
Wilko is a decent right back but is dogshit at left back.
Anyone who watches us knows our full-backs are crap. Man City exposed us brilliantly today.
Both forwards (Dzeko and Tevez) stayed well clear of central positions and just put themselves into an area where our two majestic centre halves couldn't venture to pick them up.
The result, at times, was chaos as they picked our full-backs off almost at will.
In 10 years Pulis has signed TWO natural full-backs. Griffin and Marcus Hall. That is tantamount to gross negligence and I am genuinely surprised that it has taken so long for every other team to work out where our weaknesses are.

Yes he did dave for Crouch's header but lets not kid ourselves he's not good enough for the Premier League whatever fullback role he fills.

I think he's ok and with a proper left back Wilko would suffice on the right. Obviously we could do better but I don't know that many we could realistically get (given we don't shop abroad).

I still stand by the fact that I haven't a clue who we could recruit from England who would do better than him on our budget.

Sorry Mutters...The opening poster said that our full-backs don't offer anything at all going forward.
The fact that Wilko put over the best cross of the day suggests otherwise, regardless of our respective views on the quality of the players in question.
