You just know it.
I'd love to know what is happening with Palacios. He came to Stoke twice the player of any of our midfield. Now he can't dislodge any of them.

Why wouldn't you play Delap against Arsenal?

Why wouldn't you play Delap against Arsenal? Oh come on. HE AIN'T VERY GOOD ANY MORE. Arsenal are even worse at defending a certain ball into the box. I expect Delap and Cameron to start. Whitehead obviously suspended and Whelan would have done his chances no good today. Tactics hey?

Why wouldn't you play Delap against Arsenal? FOR THE SAME REASON I WOULDN'T PLAY PRINCE PHILLIP. (AND HE CAN'T HOLD HIS OWN WATER EITHER...)

Palacios flew back into in England in the early hours of yesterday from Miami after playing in a friendly there against Boca Juniors. We'll learn more next weekend

Oh great - so we are back to hoping that a 36 year old who should be no where near the first team can recreate his form from 3 plus years ago of lobbing a ball 20 yards into the box from the odd throw in after spunking millions up the wall on Palacios.

The approach to next Saturday in midfield will be interesting. Delap is streets ahead of both Whelan and Whitehead, so you would hope that he'd leapfrog the former in the pecking order, while the latter will miss out anyway. Cameron and Palacios should both be available after international duty put them out of contention today, but would you really start with a complete unknown quantity and a player with massive question marks over him in such a tough game? I would think that we'll probably see Cameron feature at right back (yes, I know), barring the Popov deal going through or another full back coming in.
If you take that as a given then it's really a competition between Delap, Whelan and Palacios for two central midfield spots. I'm assuming Ness won't get a look in there. I'd try out Delap and Palacios.

Palacios has to start against arsenal surely, i also want cameron to start alongside him. Would not want delap to start, but if we can get the popov permit sorted out a team of: Begovic Wilson Huth Ryan Popov Pennant Palacios Delap Kightly Crouch Walters
With geoff coming on, i suppose wouldn't be bad. But don't want to see delap in there anymore

I'm being very serious. Whitehead is an exceptionally limited player, impossibly clumsy but with a superb engine. He has his moments and certain games are made for him (funnily enough I wouldn't want him on the pitch today but I think he'd do a decent job next week), but he's not really very much of a player. Whelan's just a bog standard lower Premier League standard central midfielder. Inconsistent passing, capable of both the good and the bad, doesn't shirk, massively frustrating at times. Delap works as an excellent foil for whoever he plays alongside and his reading of the game is frankly a class above any of our other midfielders. His distribution is very shaky and he's increasingly immobile, but he does what he does well. He also carries a much greater attacking threat than any of our other central midfield options.
Hopefully this will all be academic because Palacios will good and Cameron will turn out to be an inspired midfield purchase. Then we can afford to ship out one of Whelan or Whitehead and continue to groom Delap for a role on the backroom staff.

Jesus H Christ, I know that they are not the best but fcuk me surely because they can move it immediately puts them a level above Delap ?

I agree with everything you have put mystical except the part about Rory, but if w all agreed then it would be boring. One thing I think we all agree on though is we hope palacios and Cameron start in the middle next week

Reading the gamè yeah ok but it's getting there is the main problem and his distribution for a top flight midfielder is the worst in fuckin history!!!
Palacios Cameron has to be the future or we will continue to play this wank style of football!

Like I said before, I think Cameron will end up at right back unless we get Popov or another left back in. It seems all too predictable. He has played him in the middle in the pre-season though, so who knows? I do hope we get to see something of him, though, it's exciting to have a complete unknown quantity for once.

Rory has been magnificent for us and I hate to knock him but he should shouldn't really be any where near our starting 11 this season. But then again, neither should Whitehead.

If he starts Sunday then some serious questions need to be asked. yes but who will ask them because they will either get banned from the ground for disrespecting Pulis ball or the usual suspects wont dare! Can you see Nige asking Pulisa hard hitting question? His interviews have become boring and pradictable
