John West tinned black cherries - eat the whole tin and drink the syrup.
I have them every time I feel an attack coming on and it goeswith 12-24 hours with no pain!!
Another herbal remedy is black treacle, cider vineger, honey and hot water - tastes like shit but worked on me once!
I'm 28 as well and it really fucks me off, there ain't no pain like it though.

It's actually an excess build up of uric acid in the blood - often hereditary.
Port, cheese, wine etc can bring on an attack but are not the cause.

I have (mild) rheumatoid arthritis, and receive excellent treatment from the Rheumatology department at the Haywood Hospital. They also treat gout. Suggest asking your GP to refer you there.
Only disadvantage - Haywood's in Burslem, close to Fail Park.

A gallon!! Can we have an update of your pee colour tomorrow?
Seriously if you can time off work get down to your GP. Surely, it's not that hard to cure.

Watch yourself on the dyclophenac. My GP gave me some heartburn drugs to counteract the side effects as I got severe heartburn. It does help my Rheumatoid Arthritis though although with the weather today...I don't think much is going to help.

I have hyperuricaemia (hereditary gout) and dyclophenac will stop the pain. For a long-term solution, allopurinol is the way to go. I hate the fact people think it's good living. And i also hate the fact that it is the sort of pain that makes you sit and weep in the middle of the night (sufferers will know what i mean). There is simply nothing on earth like it. get down the docs and get tested.
