They are putting their prices up from September - I've just worked out that I'll be paying £55.50 per month = Annual cost of £666 .... the number of the beast - how appropriate. Think I'm going to cancel. Can anyone offer up any cheaper alternatives? - preferably ones that can still involve me watching lots of sport. Cheers

You know people usually call up and say "I'm going to Virgin, they'll give me X/Y/Z for ££'s a month" what would Sky say if you call up and say "I'm going to Flashsportstreams they'll give me your TV package for £50 a year"
Someone needs to try it.

Depends how you look at it
One pint of lager a day at about £3/pint = £1095/year 20 Cigs a day at about £6.50 (guess)= £2372/year
What is better value?

stupid question i'm guessing, but do they put their price up simply because they can or is there some pressing business need to increase the price?

Wait till next year when the new premier league deal kicks in, thanks to BT Sky have to pay about £ 250 million more for less matches, and they haven't got the big ones, BT have got those.
So watch the subs go up next time.

Cancelled my Sky subscription last week and I feel great!
We were paying around about 65 quid a month and it just wasn't worth it, especially now that there's no football on. It is a rip off because after having Sky for about 3 years, I realised that I only regularly watch about 10 different channels on it, and most of them are available on freeview.
Now I'm just gonna stick with Freeview, stream any sport I want and save 780 quid whilst I'm doing it.

So basically with BT getting the bigger games Sky are now asking for more money to cover less games? Is that right? It seems the football cake is being cut into ever so smaller pieces season on season. First Sky Sports, Then it was sky sports 1 & 2, Then ESPN, and now BT!! How much would it cost if you had all these channels? Think I'm going to cancel too and just get of of those Freeview HD recorders

The cost of sports package should pay Sky for the cost of screening rights + remote broadcast stuff + wages etc for presenters But I bet it doesn't even come close

Still you will get the pleasure of seeing your favourite players being able to bung another £40,000 a week into offshore accounts.

It was no brainer for us.
