Black Apalachi and Naunton Brook both e/w.
Then again I've only had one winner since Party Politics in 1992!!! ;D

Well cloudy lane is set to be the shortest price favourite since red rum and will take alot of beating but comply or die isnt a bad nag. Hedgehunter has shown he is a good stayer and could have some each way value depending on the ground

Boring im afraid, if cloudy lane jumps he will romp home, but also fancy slim pickings

Right with you Dave, King Johns Castle 20/1 worth an e/w.

You need to have a horse that travels well, as much as one that stays.
King Johns Castle will stay but is a real plodder on the evidence of his last win over hurdles! He is not entirely straight-forward either.
I fancy Simon, but at 12's is no real price, especially when he will need the ground to be soft (or at least on the soft side of good). He was travelling like a dream last year until falling 6 out and even though his form has been iffy this year the ground has been against him.
Turko is probably the horse in the race with the most potential but I would be surprised to see a 6 year old win this. Stays and travels so maybe worth a little e/w.

A few stats that may help to narrow the field down for you:-
Since 1983, only one horse has won carrying more than 11-0 (Hedgehunter who carried 11-01!)
Ignore any horse not aged between 8 and 12, as no horse outside this range has won since 1940
Remove the dastardly French bred beasts, as 1909 was the last time one won the race.
No horse in the last 10 years has won the race having had less than ten chase runs in their career.
Since 1990, only Miinnehoma has had less than four runs (chase or hurdles) that season, with the other sixteen winners having between 4 and 7 runs in the season.
And a curious little one to finish:-
Since 1990, only Amberleigh House has pulled up in their Grand National winning season. Winners during the period had all together 97 races, with this being the only occasion that any of them pulled up.
Will probably only bring the final field down to about a dozen, but that's got to be better than 40! ;D
