Quick question for any painter/decorator types...
I'm wanting to give my kitchen a cheap facelift and am planning to paint the cupboard doors.
I will be getting the ESP Primer as I think they are melamine? I will then get some nice new paint on them etc..
Question is around the paint really, it looks like I have to use a Oil/Water based one but does it have to be specifically for painting cupboards or can I open up a few more options colour wise as the primer will mean I can put anything on?
Any other thoughts/hints appreciated
Thanks in advance

Best thing to do is put your hands on top of your head and breath in through your nose, out through your mouth.
Hope this helps.

I wouldn't bother mate, whichever paint you use it will look shit after a month or so. Best to save up and buy some new doors.

The simple answer is no as there are no special paints for kitchen cupboards.Saying that there are a few clever marketing gimmicks that Dulux and crown peddle out.If it was me i would use a oil based satin or eggshell finish to achieve best results on top of your melamine primer or equivalent. Two coats should give you a good finish.A light rub with fine wet and dry would help as well. Hope this helps, don't forget to wash down cupboards before starting painting. p.s I am a decorator and have been for over 25 years. Regards Brian
