I have a huge range of musical taste but i'd have to say my 4 favourite albums in no order are:
1) The Colour and the Shape - Foo Fighters 2) Meteora - Linkin Park 3) Favourite Worst Nightmare - Arctic Moneys (debatable one amongst AM fans) 4) Silent Alarm - Bloc Party

This is a dangerously uncool thing to say, but I find I generally lose interest with Daydream Nation and normally don't make it to the end of the album. Possibly a symptom of top-loading it with Teenage Riot as an opening track. I've always been a massive admirer of Pulp's This is Hardcore, and have been conscious of the fact that the album is put together in absolutely excellent order. The songs do lend themselves to having an overall narrative though as you go through Jarvis' psychosis and come out the other side, and they piece them together perfectly. Different Class is faultlessly put together too but not as good a record in my opinion. I'm with you on daydream nation mate, great lp but just doesn't get any better than teenage riot in my eyes. Sister is my fave sonic youth lp. It's just fucking magnificent for us to be talking about them on here ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/ibnJJzaA6ZhfTOIekEAf.gif) im with you on sister roots! just shades it from daydream and washing machine. saw them do daydream in full at the roundhouse a few years ago. then they did an encore which included schizophrenia and it blew everything else away which is some achievement.

Very difficult to choose one but if pushed I would go for London Calling by The Clash. Followed closely by their debut album, Appetite For Destruction by Guns n Roses and The Holy Bible by Manic Street Preachers. If I'm chilling it would be Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd and my favourite live album is Strangers In The Night by UFO. In my opinion a great album should reflect the band's values and mindset at the time of its recording, and not just be made with the aim of having commercial success. In the words of Bill Hicks, 'Play from the heart'. There are some classic albums on this thread and you are all restoring my faith in music which will live on long after shows like the dreadful X Factor (feel ill just typing its name) are long consigned to the dustbin of history.

Can I be greedy and chose one from each decade? 60's: Velvet Underground featuring Nico. 70's: Hunky Dory 80's: Daydream Nation 90's: What's The Story Morning Glory 00's: Kid A EDIT: I can't tell you how many times I've listened to Marquee Moon and Exile On Main Street, determined that one day the penny is going to drop for me - sadly it never has, there must be something wrong with me! ![:'(](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/aV1vRBg_y2NLG9ubeFHN.gif) Funny that, I once listened to OK Computer 6 times over three days to see what I wasn't getting - loads of recommends from usually reliable sources. try "The Bends".....far more "Normal" rock music as opposed to OK Computer, Kid A (although i'm with Paul here, Kid A is a cracking album) and Amnesiac where Thom Yorke kind of took over with his electronic influences (hence his amazing solo album "The Eraser"). ok, Radiohead lesson over ;D Paul, Velvet Underground ft. Nico = Sublime Sir!!!

Good shout with The Holy Bible, it's so dark, really gruesome lyrics. I'm gonna throw Jeff Buckley - Live at Sin-e into the mix.

Yep of course but I've always thought the album is about that one track and that one track only. When I was kid plenty of people could play the guitar solo to Stairway to Heaven or Like A Hurricane but I can't ever remember anybody even attempting the solos in Marquee Moon - utterly unique.

Animals is always forgotten but is brilliant. There was nothing contrived about the anger. It was unpleasant and bitter.
Final Cut gets overlooked. It gets mentioned for all the arguing going on which detracts from how goos it is
