The Kite Runners, 2 weeks ago at Stoke Film Theatre - a rarity in being a film adaptation of an excellent book that is equally good. 9/10.

Alvin and the Chipmunks - about what you'd expect kids and wives will love it
the one before that - Darjeeling Limited - truly awful - despite a naked Natalie Portman

The Bank Job. Pitched at exactly the right level in my opinion. It could easily have been OTT. 8/10.
Previous to that Vantage Point. An okay film, the format can become a little tedious and the car chase is somewhat unbelievable, albeit reasonably exciting. 6/10

I know I perhaps didnt make things clear when I started this thread.. But basicaly everytime you watch a movie..post your thoughts on here..
My latest was one of those that I remember as a kid, but never saw it at the time... HOUSE OF DRACULA, one of those universal horror's from the 40s.. DRACULA, FRANKENSTEIN and THE WOLFMAN all together in one movie.. hard to believe that this was once classed as scary..
5/10

Was watching' Darjeeling Ltd' earlier but the DVD stuck near the end-Craig are you sure you're not confusing it with something else??? Natalie Portman wasn't in it as far as I saw.
going to watch 'Charlie Wilson's war' now the other half has fallen asleep- she was trying to get me to watch 'Memoirs of a geisha' !!!!!

going to watch 'Charlie Wilson's war' now the other half has fallen asleep- she was trying to get me to watch 'Memoirs of a geisha' !!!!! Not a bad film but has a major flaw in it, the US didn't get involved AFTER the soviets invaded Afghanistan, the US sucked Russia into that war to bog them down in a quagmire as pay back for Vietnam, the US were funding anti Afghan government groups to force Russia to invade, Zbigniew Brzezinski who was the national security advisor to Jimmy Carter now actually brags about it in his book, calls it "the Afghan trap", that war killed over 1 million Afghanis and thousands of Russians. The film also doesn't go into the consequences of funding the Mujadeen.

With a flaw as major as that, I would say it was a bad film.

Natural Born Killers... Seen it so many times, it's my second favourite ever film behind Fight Club and before The Exorcist... too good to mark out of ten, there's nothing bad about it at all.

Shrooms. Not too bad if you like the old "kids go into woods, most die horrific deaths etc" kind of film. Bit of a twist at the end as well. 7/10

With a flaw as major as that, I would say it was a bad film. The acting's not bad i suppose, i like Phillip Seymour Hoffman, but the film itself isn't very accurate. Could have been a lot better if the film was a little longer and went into what happened next.

Natalie Portman is in the opening segment of Darjeeling Limited - Hotel Chevalier.
Last film I saw "Diary of the Dead" on tuesday night.
Zombie movie with a heavy political subtext - i.e. If we are so dehumanised anyway by technology etc and so lacking in the elements of humanity that make society function then would it matter if the zombies took over anyway?
Some of the acting and characterisation was a bit weak and some of the messages were a bit heavy handed but still a very powerful film -especially the very last scene which depressed the hell out of me! -so 8/10.
