Stoke were shit - couldn't pass wind, thank God for set pieces. Swansea were shit - clueless in the last third against a well organised back 6.
Probably the worst performance by a centre midfielder in Whitehead I've seen for 20 years.
Geart three points and at the moment that's all that matters.

So I think by default you are saying what most reasonable people tonight are thinking.
The way to play football is to play the right pass at the right time?

Opinions mate make the board go round but surely you could see 2nd half the way he along with his fellow players nullified their attacking threat?

Thought Whitehead and Whelan were both brilliant. We looked like the Stoke of old today the way we pressed the opposition into making mistakes or shit passes, scored from 2 set pieces and went home with three of the easiest points of the season. The weak link in the team for me was Etherington who looks a ghost of his old self at the minute.
Well done Stoke.

Leave Whitehead alone pugs, loads of other people would say he did very well, me included.
We can all eulogise about Swansea, but i would simply comment that if stoke were doing the suicidal things they were doing from goal kicks in the second half today our fans would not accept it.
They reminded me of West Brom, lovely to watch, no end product and hopeless managerial substitutions by another untouchable manager because he is trying to play the right way.
I have to say the arrogance of Swansea in some of their passing from the back, which at times totally failed, beggared belief, and was so naive. I think they thought they were Hollands 74 team because they were playing in orange, well they aernt.

Opinions mate make the board go round but surely you could see 2nd half the way he along with his fellow players nullified their attacking threat? Dear oh dear oh dear. Nullified what attacking threat? They were CLUELESS in the final third against an organised back 6. What did he do going forwards? How many meaningful passes did he make? How many times in the first half did the play pass him by? Our centre midfielders give us nothing bar an extra 2 at the back. And I'm not eulogising Swansea - bar some possession football in front of Stoke they were poor.

Some fans share our managers opinion that doesn't really matter, i don't think the two positions are reconcilable

Both whelan and deano on the ball are useless. Can never fault their effort and commitment and would never slate them loud enough for them to hear, but we really need pally in there more. When he came on he just kept playing one two's down the right. Makes it look so simple does pally.

Give me crappy crappy all day long if it regularly gets us 3 points;-)
But then again I think we played well today, we were, quite simply, not crappy crappy.
Neither was Deano, thought he did ok.

Don't see how anyone can see that as anything other than an efficient performance against a potentially very dangerous opponent, especially after the run we've had. Excellent without the ball as we needed to be as we were never going to pass them off the pitch. Pressed them high up the pitch, restricted them to one opportunity in the last minute (came from a high ball into the box, funnily enough ) Shotton, Upson, Deano, Ryan, Wilko, Crouch all excellent. An on-form Ethers or Walters could have made it 3 or 4. Results breed confidence.

Agreed about Palacios, but then again I would also like to see Arismendi given a start too and I know that is a bridge too far at the moment for TP.

Our ball retention is probably the worst I've ever seen it, Deano and Whelan just compounded the problem every time they had the ball! They worked hard but sometimes we sat so deep in the middle that the Swansea players virtually walked into our final third unchallenged. We hoof the ball so much I think they've forgotten to how to pass and move with any modicum of success.

God forgive me for this but Pugsley does have a slight point here. The 2 W's do get paid a hell of a lot just to be 'destroyers' (Deano does this far better than Glen) - the ability to hold on to the ball / lay it off surely must be something that could be worked on.
