£1.16 and rising....Some papers said it is likely to rise even sharper this year...!
It'll soon be 50% higher than some of our European friends are paying.

I've driven in France and Scandinavia recently and, taking in to account the exchange rate, it was actually cheaper in the UK than all of these countries
Still it is a rip off. Cost me £18 to fill up the hire car I have at the moment in the US

I don't own a car at the mo. so haven't realised just how expensive petrol has become.
It's still bad news for me as higher fuel costs means higher prices in the shops.

I have only been driving for 3 years...
In Feb 05 I filled my car up for the first time in Wolverhampton for 87p a litre.
I filled it up today in Tesco for 103.9p per litre

Worth mentioning that for every 10p per litre increase, the Government get almost 1.5p in VAT!...and...we pay VAT on the actual tax on fuel!

Once the compliant British public allowed the government to sneak it over the psycological quid-a-litre mark it was obvious it wouldn't stop. They'd been waiting for the right time to get it over a quid for ages.

Is there the remotest possibility that the rise might be due to oil trading at $103 a barrel on the world market?
Just a thought, like.

Yes that's very true dallas...but the price of oil has hovered around this price for a while now...however the price at the pumps has continued to rise disproportionately.
I think it's case of capitalising on market fears...and prices.
