This week it was reported that 1 million people living in rural areas were living at below the poverty line...a figure set at below an income of £16,000 per annum.(Per household) Although this stat may be true, what struck me was the irrelevance of this headline grabbing statistic when one considers all elements of society nationally... namely the vast swathes of society that do not live in the countryside..!! I'm not sure what the point of this subject was...other than trying to suggest that the better quality of life that could be enjoyed by living in rural areas also had it's downside..! The obvious response would be ....well it's probably infinately better earning £16,000 a year in leafy Dorset and Cornwall and enjoying the suggested better quality of life for example, than perhaps surviving on a council estate in Mosside,Speke,or even Fegg hayes..? I am therefore considering putting in my application for a house swap for anyone interested living in council accomodation in St Mawes or Cowes.... I feel it is my duty to offer some relief to those poorer long suffering souls in more rural areas of similar financial embarrassing status to that of myself...  |

I can always remember Michael Howards(ex Conservative leader) wife being filmed driving a 15year old Fiat Panda....It brought a tear of humility and humbleness to my world...
I can remember crying on seeing the interview....and wished I could afford such a luxury iconic rural vehicle.
The Howards house must have been a real tip..............I'm talking Knutton Or Chell Heath..!
