After much deliberation I will not make the 250 mile drive to Crewe today. Had my ticket ready and my ID card in my wallet but I really can't raise any enthusiasm to start a journey which may be called off around Birmingham when Tel texts me the result of the pitch inspection. I think if there had not been a home game on Tuesday (which won't be called off thanks to the heated pitch) I would have taken the risk. I still hope the game is played as three points will come in handy and I would not want to see the club slip down the table even though it would mean a game in hand. I wish I could pass my ticket on to a deserving Stokie but teleportation continues to elude us! Those of you who are going (in both home and away areas) do us all proud and make the place rock. Cheer every touch that Gerry gets of the ball and give the trainspotters a day they will never forget. See you all on Tuesday. [glow=red,2,300]GOOOAAAARRRRRNNNNEEEEE STOKE![/glow]

couldn't you get a latest weather report from the Nantwich 1 ?
or maybe EustacesGoatee, they both live near by and could give you a fair indication of the conditions in and around the trainspotters meeting club

To be honest Dave it has little to do with the current weather conditions. The main stand casts a long shadow on the pitch and if the pitch is frozen deeply then it could still be postponed whatever the weather is like at the time. People stand in the sun and say how warm it is and forget that parts of that pitch will not actually have felt the mid day sun for two or three months. Quite why Crewe don't put a blanket over the offending area each night frost is forcast I don't know - possibly they feel that postponments reduce the away following at the replayed game?
I put the chances of a postponement at about one in three but those odds are too short to tempt me to make a 500 mile journey which could be wasted - when I will be making a similar journey on Tuesday which won't be wasted because of our heated pitch.
I am not going to be dog in a manger about this and for the sake of all ticket holders I hope the game is on - if it is then our Nige will no doubt do his usual superb job of keeping me up to date as each Stoke goal hits the back of the net. ;D

Well done Dave, you got your 600 posts! The crWHO bastards will want it off because of a bad run and an injury or two. Looking at the weather in trentham (not very far away), it's not very cold so they should just have a couple of people trampling on the pitch to get rid of the little ice there will be!
I personally don't think ahead and probably would make the journey if it might be off but i think you done the right thing! No-one can be arsed to drive 500 miles when all they can do is see a few trains and the sights of S!toke-on-Trent
