I booed him at the hawthorns, but I won't at the brit. after thinkin and cooling down over it, I can't stay mad at him, especially when i remember the fact that he gave most younger stokies and some older stokies the best non-sexual nite of their life!!(Cardiff 0 Stoke 2)

Booing him was rather harsh anyway. He didn't do anything wrong. He completed his contract, was fully entitled to move on and did so. He wasn't god almighty but he was a part of the side that got us promoted.

And he conducted himself professionally in the media when he left Stoke. No slanging matches or attempting to disrupt what he had left...he just left and said a thankyou to the supporters and club.
For someone to even CONSIDER booing him is, to me, inconceivable. He gave our club great service...important goals, 110% commitment and even when he was unhappy under Gudjon, he kept his head down and continued with his never-say-die spirit.
I'd rather have Eustace than Jimmy, but there's no way in this world I'd think of giving him anything other than a warm reception.

I like Super James, but I saw him out in 'castle tonight like that youth said below. He's nothing worth getting worked up about, although I wish him well.

Some people boo ex players through force of habit or just because everyone else does.
And Jimmy did provide my own favourite Stoke City moment ever.

Never booed him really Same as any one of us being a young player in Ireland, we get taken on by an English club who we previously had no ties with, say Preston. We stay there for six years or so, they just about survive in Division One last season, a team like WBA comes down from the Premiership with big crowds, a good team and are installed as favs for the title, they offer you a good contract, Preston look in a mess... who wouldn't move on? (saying Preston here from the perspective that James wasn't born and bred in Stoke, he won't be a die hard fan like many of us, players take clubs to their hearts, O'Connor no doubt did with growing up at Stoke, but very few players are like supporters when they have careers, family and money to think of) wished he was doing a little better at Albion anyway seeing as we make more money from the deal based on International caps!
