One for the tech-minded out there. I want to convert a load of mp3 files back into .cda format so that I can play them on a normal Car or Home CD Player. Can anyone recommend a decent app that will do this (either free or cheapish). Cheers.

No need for any special conversion software.
Windows media player or Nero will do the job.
Nero will do a better job but WMP is free.

I'm sure I've looked at WMP and although it will burn discs, I don't remember seeing .cda as a format it can convert to. I could be wr ong though.

When Windows Media Player burns a CD from mp3 files it makes it as if you have bought the CD from a shop hence it will play in car stereo and hi-fi.
As i understand it cda is the file fomat of a song on such and audio cd.
Are you using a legit copy of Windows XP if so I would plump for WMP 11 which is free from MS website.
Alternativley you can download a demo of Nero from their website.
Might aswell try WMP as it is free although it does have annoying habits such as putting 2 second gaps between your songs.
Hope this helps

Cheers Dave - I've just run a test disc here at work and it does indeed put gaps between songs. I'll have a look at the one above and see if that knocks them out. Does Nero put gaps in?

Nero has the option of taking the gaps out which is why i prefer it. The newer version of Nero however is very bloated with extra features that are not needed like nero media player and nero home and nero scout. If you try it do a custom install and only install the cd burning things. Nero 6 was the best version for my money.
