Or should I say the lack of them. I got a bird table last week and decked it out with seed a bag of fat balls and not one but two bags of peanuts. So far not one bird has landed on it. There was one on the fence this morning looking longingly at it but in the end it jumped on to the lawn grabbed a worm and fucked off.
How can I entice the feathery little bastards to feed on my nuts or is it case of " The birds around Blythe Bridge are wank and are to well fed!

You have to give them time to get used to it. It also depends on what you feed them. They're mad for sunflower hearts! Also, it's been fairly mild recently (during the day), so there's plenty of natural food around for birds, so they might not be so dependent on bird tables.

Lets have a sensible debate about it! Why won't they come? There are loads of them tweeting and jumping around in the trees. But land on my table. No! I have even tried bread to no avail. should I get a plastic bird and put that on the table to encourage more activity a sort of decoy like they use when they go duck hunting. I won't be using a plastic duck by the way

"Lets have a sensible debate about it"
why not smash some rare bird eggs on the table next to the food, leave a note written in chirpish (bird language) saying "more will die, unless you feed"

when i moved into my little rented pad after a divorce, first thing i did was put feeders in the garden, weeks went by and nothing then one morning after i had almost forgotten about them the garden feeders were full of tits finches sparrows and have stayed, but like norwich said there is loads of natural food around because of the mild weather

Its about 30 foot from the house in the middle of the lawn. I just had a blue tit close to it but like the rest it hasn't bothered. if I put it two close to the fence I get Squirrels nicking all of the nuts. Do you think I will have any luck with the decoy bird?

Bird Tables in the middle of the Lawn always have trouble attracting Birds, best bet try to position the table nearer to a tree or hedge, birds prefer to have some cover from predators when looking to feed. Once the birds have found the food source you can perhaps move the table out a bit, but remember, birds are always nervous of possible a predator, not just cats but the increase of sparrow hawks etc

Good tip! I've always been an advocate of putting my nuts near bushes, and on most occasions I have found the best results actually putting them in the bush to arouse interest from the birds.

;D Fake bird has just reminded me of the Dead Parrot Sketch!! "Mr. Praline: 'E's not pinin'! 'E's passed on! This parrot is no more! He has ceased to be! 'E's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'E's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed 'im to the perch 'e'd be pushing up the daisies! 'Is metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the twig! 'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!! THIS IS AN EX-PARROT!!"

Any Sparrow hawks! I haven't seen any bloody sparrows at least not near to my table. No i don't think there are any hawks about and there are plenty of trees for cover. I do have loads of Black birds but they eat grubs off the lawn and there is the odd robin. But non of them fly on to my table!!!!

Does your bird table have a cover on it, or is it just open topped. The pros and cons of that are that the covered tables keep food from going off, but also deter birds as they can't keep an eye on what's going on around them (predator-wise). The open top ones are good for quickly getting birds on them, but then you have to change the food regularly as it gets wet and stale.
